Good write up JJ. Thought Rasmussen played well also. Fourth line brought the work ethic, even if it didn't pay off. |

Dammit, JJ, I got a belly full of white dog crap from watching the last two games and then you tease with a juicy trade rumor that clearly excites you?
Not cool, man, not cool. |

Any chance the hawks look to bring in a more veteran forward to help compliment all the youth, perhaps someone like Lee Stempniak? Still playing well and very cheap. |

As far as trade rumors, I heard one yesterday that caught me so off guard, I will hold off on relating it here, as it contradicts some there things I've heard. But i am digging for more on that.
JJ, does this mean JVR is back in play? |

I'm going to guess the contradiction John is alluding to is which Hawks player(s) Stan is willing to discuss that had previously been out of the question - rather than a contradiction of which player/position the Hawks are considering trying to acquire. |

Last nights game was packed with Hawk apparel. It was like a home game. Wish the visitors had played better. I still don't get the rats thrown on the ice. |

Could maybe be that they are going after D instead of F? That would also contradict everything we've been hearing. |

Not overly concerned. Year after year these guys make a run and prove they can get wins in bunches and then sort of relegate to save it for when we need it.
Despite an utter collapse that streak puts us in the playoffs. Yes like JJ said our dump and chase needs work, a lot, but with some more tinkering roster wise and a playoff mentality we should be able to contend.
I think about what Brad Richards said after we won last year in that sometimes this team mails it in because they know that some of these games are relatively meaningless and they save the 6th gear for the postseason. Something I've always thought they have kind of done but we got a little reassurance from Brad.
Looking forward to see what Stan can accomplish because I get the feeling we haven't seen our last trade this season. |

Interesting. I think it's the other way around. Like a new seller has emerged and a player we didn't think would be on the market now is.

Whichever the case, awesome tease by JJ! I'm anticipating a better effort against the Blues tomorrow. |

Q was rewarding that line with minutes, that's a good message to send to the rest of the team. I could have sworn there was a 3 or 4 minute stretch where I didn't see #19. It seemed like the "second" and fourth lines were out there all night. |

I'm satisfied that Panik feels accountable for his actions. Did they have a huge night at Bern's the night before, I wonder?
I'm not worried about these last two games, either...
11 forwards dress for the Tampa game, because the oversleep by Panik, combined with the Garbutt for Sekac trade and Sekac still in transit. And they still almost found a way to steal at least one point from that one, and I would think most of us thought they could easily have lost that one 5-1.
Florida was just an absolute clunker. Let's not worry until we see that this might be a habit. I trust that Q will have them ready for tomorrow. Panarin was sick, according to what I hear on this board, so that could be part of what happened last night.
January is a brutal month. It will be 14 games in 23 days before heading into the break. They never got more than one day off in that stretch. This is like 2013 scheduling. I hope Q remembered to do shorter shifts for his guys, but it is harder to do that when he hasn't been able to roll four lines and three pairs consistently this time around.
The team is still a work in progress. I don't know if a trade for a 1LW is necessary. I think Shaw has shown he can play, and the third line has shown it can play. Hopefully Sekac proves to be an upgrade. As for 4D, Gustafsson is a bit of a work in progress, but I think he will grow into this role. Sure, if the price is right, no objection to improving either slot, but I'm not wild about overpaying for a rental this time around.

Having Shaw as #1LW is going to exhaust him with the style he plays. Having him in the bottom 6 creates matchup problems for opposing teams.

A real bombshell would be Saad in play for a return to Chicago-- with something major going back-- hmm -- TT - Gus - a salary dump + picks-- for Saad? |

Great writeup as always John...after a long day today nice to have something to read here...
we saw the perimeter Hawks last night...and as you alluded to the resistance to dump and chase even though they're not breaking the blue line. Which is what they're going to see a lot more of come April. A la the TT ragdoll last night.
But other factors 12 games in 20 days and some of the guys under the weather. And once again its January. As alluded to this team isn't going to get too up or too down. No question they'll be a bit more focused for a home game against the Blues tomorrow night.
Darling's been solid of late, but had a clunker last night. Two bad/soft ones in the first and the horrible outlet pass by Scuds in the 2nd which finished us. I think the kid is ok he's just not getting any work because Craw has been stellar.
Still think you need #4 d and a #1LW - we'll see what happens.
