Hansen, Tanev (or Sbisa?) and 1st for OEL. ( from reading the #1 men debate in the other thread) What would get that trade done. Too little? We get a #1 D, make a splash in free agency. I don't know if they'd trade him though.

I'll be so happy when Bettman has no part in the nhl anymore . I hate his wiggly little face . He reminds me of the penguin

With escrow going up there will be no expansion, but the league will never admit to it's financial problems.
- A_SteamingLombardi

Instead of expand, just move the Panthers and Coyotes to hockey markets. It is because Betman is trying to force hockey onto markets that don't care about the game that this is happening. Once that PoS is gone things will likely improve.

never understood the need for new arena in seattle or any other expansion spot for that matter.

canucks fans would pack any arena old or new that seattle had a team in

I think if you know he is gonna clear waivers you do it. Buyouts are a last resort. Him not having any fun is sign he was't getting along in the locker room. Tortarella was right about one thing when he was here, the room/team was stale.

I can't speak for anyone here but this has been a positive year of change. I like what is happening and where things are going. Sure we hit rock bottom in December and had way too many injuries but we are a way better team than I thought we would be this year. I never thought we would be near where we are in the standings. This road trip was a real test. I thought regardless of the shots aloud we played pretty well. The Pittsburgh game could have gone either way.

- thundachunk

I agree with everything you have said except the part about him not having fun being a sign of not getting along.

From the way the room reacted to him being waived, I think he probably got along well with the guys there. No need to throw more dirt at a guy already having a disappointing year.

Not even close, they won't be trading OEL for any combo of players, picks and prospects from this team.

I think Quebec is a better bet for relocation rather than expansion.  Look at Florida, if I was the owner, I'd be looking at moving the franchise there.  Guaranteed sell outs.  Huberdeau and Luongo francophone all stars.  More merch sales than you could give away for free in Miami...

I would go out on a limb and suggest that the team did indeed try and trade him in the off season and there were no takers, as the fan suggested from the town hall. Further, that WD had a conversation with Higgins about giving him an opportunity to play for a trade at some point in the season, i.e. that he would be given top or middle 6 minutes to show what he's got left. Obviously, that didn't go well for him, and now he's in Utica...

They were playing for the playoffs. So they lost out on getting something for Higgins, Richardson, Matthias, Corrado...yadda yadda.

At that point, there was no "youth" ready to make the jump and contribute. Now there is.

I can't stand Bettman, but I think it is hard to argue that he has been bad at growing the game in the states and economically.

Like it or not he has been successful in expanding the game in California, Nashville, Tampa ( mixed results), Ottawa, Dallas, Minnesota (again), Denver, Carolina, Columbus and Winnipeg (again).

Florida, Phoenix and Atlanta failed or have struggled greatly but many people doubted some of the other moves that have turned out great.

I'm not sure how much he cares about the actual hockey but I think he has been very successful with the business side of it.

Yeah, for some reason you can't upload images here, so if you ever wanted to post a picture you took etc you have to post it to a photo sharing site or something, and then copy the url to post it here. annoying.

I don't think he get's a say in the matter should the franchise relocate.
I'm not sure so players were too stoked to move from Atl to Winnipeg a few years ago either.
