It bothers me too, but I didn't enjoy the last couple of books, and I don't get the sense that Martin enjoyed writing them. I think he could feel the show catching up and it shook him. Maybe now he can relax and work at his own pace.

From what I've read/he's said, the books and the stories are diverging, so what you see in the series won't necessarily be in the books. I think that gives him a be more leeway as well so he doesn't have to do everything that's in there to make them congruent to each other.

Thats an awesome signing. Its not a bridge deal cus if you have someone as good as barkov you lock him up. Bridge deals are for unproven players. Look what happened to montreal not locking up subban with a 6 or 7 year deal it cost them an extra 20 million on a long term deal after his 2 year bridge.

7.75 has nothing to do with this contract because he will be a ufa when he deal is complete.
