They've drafted some good talent, it's just that most of them never have great careers for the Leafs. - LeftCoaster
They look like they have some good talent now perhaps but who is the best player the have drafted since the 1970..... Most of them don't have great careers period.
Damphousse, Clark, Kaberle, Rask?

The question becomes whether you believe that I, personally, am responsible for things beyond even my birth.
If you answer "yes", it will certainly make me sad... but also reinforce my omnipotence... - lumlums
Lol, I meant it as a general term for all leafs fans. Old ones started it and young ones continue it. Though I am mostly jesting. Like with any team, leafs have some moron fans and some smart ones. |

Who was the GM of the caps when they traded Forsberg for Erat?

It happens from time to time. Peter Forsberg played 22 games for the Predators and Nashville gave up this.
"the Flyers traded Peter Forsberg to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Ryan Parent, Scottie Upshall and Nashville's first and third-round 2007 picks to boost Nashville's playoff run" |

Darryl Sittler, Lanny McDonald, Randy Carlyle, Rick Kehoe, Ian Turnbull, Doug Jarvis, Russ Courtnall, Wendal Clark, Vincent Damphouse - all had good productive careers, and then their drafting started to fail them. |

Sittler was drafted in 1970, all the rest of them I listed were after him. |

Playoff teams, year after year. It's two assets for two assets, pretty straightforward. If Erat can get you Forsbeg, the sky is the limit for the Sedins who are perennial top-20 scorers. We'd likely take on some bad contract as well, but it would be worth it long-term |

Bettman has been commish so long, it is hard to tell what another commissioner could have done with the same opportunity.
The thing that is frustrating about Bettman is he doesn't come across as a fan of hockey, more like a sleazy lawyer. - hillbillydeluxe

Well said.
Bettman may have done well for league revenue since'93 but at the cost of the integrity of the game and like you said entertainment value. Talent is watered down to where most games are unwatchable and at least 10 American teams flirt with bankruptcy every season. 3 lockouts and multiple tainted cups under Bettman. Just wait until he allows advertising on the jerseys...it's coming. Can't wait to see an ad for KD on a Habs jersey...

I find it hard to think Canucks will get much for Vrbata Hamhuis. Other teams are not interested in trading for old men.
I think the big trades will be Stamkos Ladd Douin Shattenkirk. Next wave will be for guys like Grabner Eller.
I doubt Burrows attracts many teams or Weber Prust Bartowski.
Two players that would interest maybe are Miller Hansen. Unlike some here hoping for two firsts for Hamhuis, this might be the team we are stuck with.
I can't stress how important it is to say goodbye to the deadwood this summer , that includes Burrows and Hamhuis. |

And yet we still see these ridiculous posts about signing Hamhuis to a hometown discount. We need to snuff out that way of thinking until it has vanished.
Too bad we didn't trade Vrbada before last years draft as a 31 goal scorer instead of a discontent aging unproductive player |

He can still contribute, possibly excel in a fresh environment. You can't let him (or Hamhuis) walk. |
