I find it hard to think Canucks will get much for Vrbata Hamhuis. Other teams are not interested in trading for old men.

I think the big trades will be Stamkos Ladd Douin Shattenkirk. Next wave will be for guys like Grabner Eller.

I doubt Burrows attracts many teams or Weber Prust Bartowski.

Two players that would interest maybe are Miller Hansen. Unlike some here hoping for two firsts for Hamhuis, this might be the team we are stuck with.

I can't stress how important it is to say goodbye to the deadwood this summer , that includes Burrows and Hamhuis.

is this you attempting to lower your expectations on a possible trade so you're not disappointed? I'd take hammer and Vrbata over Grabner or eller any day of the week!

If Hamhuis does wave I think people will be surprised with the return the Canucks get... as long as he's open to being dealt anywhere. I could see a 1st and a later pick at a minimum.

Vrbata + Hammer >>>> Grabner and Eller

I don't think we realize how much Vrbada has dropped. How many goals does he have over his last 15 games? Teams are looking for scoring.

I bet If Hamhuis is moved it will be for less than a 40 th overall.

Teams are looking for younger faster bigger players., not older slower. Really what has Vrbata done this year? Really?

Clendenning on waivers. Pick him up Benning and trade him back to the Hawks for Forsling.

Seriously I would grab him and release Weber. Next year waive AC and let him develop on the Comets.

What has anyone not named Kane or Benn done? This is a down year for scoring, someone will be willing to take a flyer on someone who's been proven to score.

playoff teams would much rather have an experienced D-man than a young guy.

That still does not explain why a team like Montreal who need scoring would be willing to trade a second round pick for a guy that is not scoring

And yet we still see these ridiculous posts about signing Hamhuis to a hometown discount. We need to snuff out that way of thinking until it has vanished.

Too bad we didn't trade Vrbada before last years draft as a 31 goal scorer instead of a discontent aging unproductive player

- VANTEL

That's just it. Gotta move away from this mentality and move forward. The message to the fans is wrong if we keep Burr Vrbata and Hammer here. Benning knows that having 15-16 mil in cap space this summer will be a boon to the team and he would rather have that to work with than aging vets.

We will have 18 mil in salary off the books this year if Higgins and Burrows are bought out plus whatever the cap goes up to.

I think Hamhuis will get the same return as Bieksa a mid to late 2 nd round pick

I don't know why any team would trade fore Vrbata. Quiet in the playoffs , not scoring too much. What team is looking for that to help them out?

Teams don't look for younger/faster at TDL because they have to give up their own younger/faster to do it. Teams look for experience at TDL. a player who has made SCF and knows what it takes both physically and mentally is always worth it. He can help(majorly) keep the younger/faster together.

I am leaning towards nothing, because Benning won't ask him to waive or even think about trading him.

A bubble team looking to push will pay(maybe not big) for a proven goal scorer to help them get to the playoffs. A 2nd+3rd is worth giving up if it gives you a much better chance at seeing round 1.

If Canucks are a point or two away from a playoff spot do you see Aquillini, I mean Benning being sellers?

Forsling isn't going anywhere. He may be one of the better D prospects the Hawks have....

Thanks!

Time will tell but teams are always looking for scoring and defensive depth at the playoffs.

Last year we saw Vermette go for a 1st and a good prospect.
Stewart for a 2nd,
Zidlickly for a 3rd and 5th,
Michalek for a 3rd and good prospect,
Cobourn for Gudas a 1st and 3rd
Connolly for 2 2nds
Wisniewski for cap dump (Bourque), Karlsson and a 2nd.

Hamhuis and Vrbata are better players than all those guys and should be able to fetch something similar if they are healthy.

The bigger issue will be whether or not Mgmt actually decides to sell.

I dont think Ladd will get much. He wants a massive deal that he doesnt deserve I actually think he will be this years franson. A guy left at the end of the summer when no one has money.

Im hoping some teams start to get some key injuries but I think Hamhuis gets a 1st. Vrbata a 2nd maybe a first.

Hamhuis is better than Bieksa.

Vrbata is on pace for 20 goals, Id say he brings back similar to what vermette got last season. He would probably do better in the playoffs on a big team like the Kings because he wouldnt be getting beat on as much.

No, Ladd and Franson are not anywhere close to similar.

Ladd will get a good contract from someone this year.
