It's possible, but unlikely IMO given how much he has played Raffl and Read at ES this season. - Feanor
I really like that line on paper. Hopefully Laughton can find his game playing with two good two way players.

Yeah, but if McDavid goes on ANY kind of tear, the Canadian based hockey writers will fall all over themselves writing hot takes on why McDavid should get it. - johndewar

So do I.
They can all skate and play a two way game. I am hoping they use there speed to get on the forcheck and create chances like that. |

I don't think it's a coincidence that as soon as Couturier was fit, Umberger got benched. I think Hakstol didn't want to replace two of our biggest players with two smaller guys like Gagner and Weal. |

What's funny is a guy I actually don't mind in the lineup is Manning. I think he plays a simple game, moves the puck well, skates well for his size, gives the team a physical edge.
My lineup if I was trying to push for the playoffs.
Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
Weal - Couturier - Schenn
Raffl - Laughton/Gagner - Read
Umberger/Vandevelde - Bellemore - White
Del Zotto - Gostisbehere
Streit - Gudas
Manning - Medvedev - J35Bacher
I agree. Maybe not from a Corsi standpoint, but just by watching the game it looks like Ghost plays better with Manning than he does with Medvedev when they are paired together. |

I don't like Ghost with either, for different reasons. I think Manning is an AHL tweener who adds zilch and stifles the team's play. Medvedev shares the same weaknesses as Ghost: coverage issues in the d zone and being very high risk/reward. Him and Ghost are lethal NZ defenders, but when the puck gets in with possession...all hell can break loose.
Manning, in my opinion, is a death by 1000 cuts player. He rarely makes huge errors, though his questionable failed pinches pop up quite often. And he may give max effort each shift, but many times his "hustle" is just a symptom of low hockey IQ. Guys like that can often pass the eye test bc they always look they're hitting and skating and trying and aren't making the big mistakes. But all his little errors add up, each shift. Ghost may look better with him because he's the one doing everything for Manning. All Manning has to do is be his reliable, no big mistake self. |

A line of Raffl, Read and Laughton should be effective. My problem with Hakstol at the moment is, who is getting special treatment on the team and who might not be. Matt Read is playing leaps and bounds better this season than last season but isn't playing in a regular top 6 role. The season began with Brayden Schenn possibly being on the outside looking in but somehow this idea morphed into Matt Read wasting away in this line up. Is it because Laughton needs help elevating his game? I don't know. |

What can you do I guess. The last week of the season consists of three back to back set of games. Can't play 3 in 3 so it was never going to be easy. |

I liked Chris Therien. Although it may have not have been an ideal situation for him, he was on the top pair with Eric Desjardins dating back to my earliest memories as a Flyers fan.

If Rico wasn't out there he was exposed and yes he was Jagr's nightmare kind of like Hatcher was Sid's... |
