I like Gudas too, but I called him "Blue Line Rinaldo" when we got him. I knew he had a reputation.
I've just never seen a call that long after it happened and for that length of time. 5 and a game WAY long after it actually happened. That felt forced. - johndewar
I don't give a (frank) frankly.
I'd take players like him over morons like Macdonald or Carle that wouldn't know emotion if someone told them their mothers died.
He's playing too many minutes this year . On a 3rd pair consistently he is damn solid. Gives the team some pop, that it desperately needs.
Kronwall does that poop all the time. I have a hard time with the penalty call there and no way should that have been 5 and a game. Game moves fast. Doesn't look like any intent to injure at all. - Lexington Flyer
Exactly. Thank you.
BTW, I'm listening to Europe '72 like a mf'er right now for reasons only my therapist might vaguely understand.

Gudas' mistakes are usually ones of aggression.
I know he's better than that and that's great he can deliver the killing shot.
I'd prefer he'd play more controlled.
I just don't think the punishment fit the crime tonight.

He went to hip check the dude.
I am sure in the seconds it took for the play to happen he took out his protractor and determined he must bend over exactly ____ degrees to take out the guys knee.

It wasn't a 5 and 10 because of intent to injure. It was because the player was injured as a result of the low hit/clipping.
If it was decided that Gudas intended to injure, it would've been a match.

Gudas is a predatory hitter, and that side of him, is part of what the NHL needs to crack down on. He just doesn't have to do that kind of stuff. - MJL
All big hits are predatory.
A headshot or hitting a guy in the aback when he is bent over near the boards are dirty.

I don't want a wussy game. - flyer_nutter
No, they're not. There is plenty of opportunity for physical play in games, to have to resort to that kind of hit. Eliminating that as part of the NHL culture, will not change the game from being a physical game.

I can't explain my fascination with that album right now.
As an adult, I feel like I should be better at explaining things like this. - johndewar
The Dead released multi-track recordings of every show on that Europe '72 tour. There isn't a stinker in the bunch and on the whole, if you enjoy the Dead, that was indeed an epic tour. Most nights were transcendent. I've been enjoying Munich Kongressal 5/18/72 the last few days. Really good stuff.

Love the Chinacat>Rider on Europe '72.

Maybe feeding this is that I'm reading Dennis McNally's Dead biography.
