I think the biggest difference is Bill is an objective writer, as opposed to emotional. - funmaster18
Absolutely! Its refreshing to know what the other team currently has at stake when they go up against us. Its what separates him from the others. Two sides to the story, you know? |

Hextall would be foolish to not cash in on Streit now. They will have money to sign a vet D presence for next year if they feel the need to do so. Get another 1st and make some noise this draft. - hereticpride
Streit isn't having the 50+ point season he had last year so it's unlikely teams are offering a 1st for him right now. And his contract means some contenders can't fit him in even if they wanted to. |

We know Umberger is shot. Any of the following would be an upgrade: Weal, Cousins, Leier etc... They are not a contender this season, it makes no sense keeping a 33 year old has been in the lineup - BiggE
It's not a fact that any of them would be an upgrade. Umberger still plays well enough away from the puck defensively, and along the wall. Cousins and Leier are certainly more talented at this point, as is Weal, but that's all at this point. What is Weal, is he a skilled player whose offensive ability will translate to the NHL, or is he an AHL player?
Once the playoff picture is clearer towards the deadline, then I would be in favor of limited call ups for some of these players, provided they get enough icetime. |

Who should they replace Umberger with, Weal?
Titanic -chairs - MJL
But if roles were moved with crew on the titantic maybe they don't hit the iceberg and you get different result.

Kimmo got two 2nd rounders.
I think you have to start there for Streit. Maybe 2nd, 4th and b level prospect(like Weal) |

thing to keep in mind is, I have seen numerous reports of lineups and roster decisions before a game, only to find out they are different. Have to wait and see what really happens. - funmaster18
Yes I know...I didnt even read the lineup bill posted TBH...just discussing what others are saying |

I'd be surprised if they could get a first for Streit. - MJL
I don't think a fringe playoff team makes that move that could very well be bounced in the first round but teams like the Hawks, Bolts, Kings... Why not? I wouldn't even care if Hextall ate some of the money next year to make it work. |

Haha I was going to say the same thing! Also, we were tied if you look at the time.. Means we'll have to go to a 3 on 3 OT to decide this! |

So far the Coach disagrees about Weal, and the GM disagrees about Cousins, Leier, etc.
I don't we'll see any major changes unless there's a long losing streak. |

Whatever, not going to debate this all day, especially since I'm in Key West! We aren't going to agree, oh well. |

He can't retain anything on Streit till the summer. The Flyers are already retaining on three contracts, which is the max.
Teams like the ones you mentioned may be able to use Medvedev, though, since he's a UFA with a $3m cap hit. |

Was there this past summer.
Loved it. My brother got married there. Rolled all over that place with the moped.
My brother had a guy Skyler Anderson play at his ceremony who plays at the one country bar there. With the mechanical bull |

Ah, gotcha.
Well he could certainly still retain salary next year on him still.
I just think with what we see guys end up going for every deadline Streit could still quite possibly yeild us a 1st. |

Wild Bills, sadly it was sold this fall and turned into just your basic island joint. Shame, as it was truly a local icon and unique place |

Certainly possible but the extra year on his deal will limit his value. The Flyers currently cannot retain salary on any more deals. |

I would do Streit for Pirri. Florida is one of the few contenders who could take Streit's contract without any problem.

They'd have to wsit to trade him until the off season to retain salary for next season in a Streit deal.

I would also certainly consider a deal like this.
Hextall could probably also take on an expiring contract to help out other teams. |

This is the ideal situation IMO...if we are sellers, we should take advantage of the cap and maximize return. |

I wouldn't mind a deal where they take a guy like Bickell back from Chicago if it means they get a 1st rounder or better prospect(hartmen or teravanien).
I think Bickel would be an upgrade over Umberger or Vandevelde. |
