This is the ideal situation IMO...if we are sellers, we should take advantage of the cap and maximize return. - YuenglingJagr
You know, even if the team rattles off a great couple of weeks here and gets into a playoff spot, I still say Hexy should sell vets like Streit. The best case scenario to me is that he does that, sets us up well for the draft, but we also get into the playoffs and allow the team to begin to get that experience and develop. We're not a contender, so we have to continue to stockpile picks etc. Of course, there's no way we trade prospects or picks for any kind of short term assistance. |

Bill, you're just about the only Flyers beat writer I can stand without shaking my head and rolling my eyes in annoyance after reading your work. You really put a lot of effort into your writing, and it shows. Most of our other beats just mail it in most of the time, and often write articles about absolutely nothing. Thank you for going that extra mile (not to mention writing our opponents' outlook heading into the game too). I can safely speak for the other Flyers' fans and myself in that we really appreciate it. You're the man. Quality stuff.
And on that note, let's hope the Flyers get on the good foot for the second half and do some damage!
*Long-time reader, first time chiming in! - kygermo
Bill is not a beat reporter. He is a writer. Big difference. |

I wouldn't mind a deal where they take a guy like Bickell back from Chicago if it means they get a 1st rounder or better prospect(hartmen or teravanien).
I think Bickel would be an upgrade over Umberger or Vandevelde. - J35Bacher
Bickell would be difficult since he has another year left at 4M

Thought of that.
And while not ideal I think he could be a player that helps out or can still provide some help in the bottom 6.
But it could be someone else. He was just a main one I thought of. FLyers take bad contract back to get better prospect or pick. |

If Chicago was willing to eat 50% it's something that might work. I doubt they get the value you want in return though.

It is a bummer that Neuvirth got to rest for four days over the AS break and then came out for practice on Monday and tweaked something. But he deserves a lot of credit for playing and winning against the Caps while not being 100%. |

Greening in Ottawa is owed almost as much salary as Streit for the rest of this year and next, but is buried in the AHL. Maybe something could be done with the Sens, although I'm sure their 1st rounder is not on the table since they could easily miss the playoffs. |

I know its certainly debatable if Streit could fetch us a 1st or not this TDL, but keep in mind, there were a lot of naysayers when people said Coburn could fetch a 1st. |

I saw Colorado lost Stuart for season. Maybe they could use a dman. No matter what happens I still feel Hextall will move vets and money. More if they are out of a playoff spot. |

Could never understand how two guys like Freer and Lamoureux could just light up the AHL regularly in their day, but could never get a real sniff as an NHL regular.
Well, for Freer, it took being on the first Senators team. |

I always got the impression that this was one reason why the team liked playing in front of Ray Emery, as well. |

And Coburn, while the whipping boy here, is a solid top 4 guy. Skates well and can play as a top 3 guy on certain teams. He was asked to play a roll not really suited for him here. |

True. There were also concerns that the extra year would hurt coburns return also.
Streit is older. But he can run a power play and is still capable in his own end. Plus he is owed only 4 mil in real money next year. I'd be surprised if they get a 1st but not shocked |
