glad to see esche back in the orange and black. i'm confused about Freddy Cassivi though...was he ever part of the organization? i don't think he was...but maybe a brief moment as minor leaguer?

i was hoping for pete peeters.

Gagner in as a showcase to Montreal. Montreal needs scoring without long term commitment. Gagner is a centre that can play wing and has decent speed and playmaking ability. Montreal is desperate and could probably get him for a mid round pick to see if he can actually produce in their lineup

Last time the Flyers made a strange roster shuffle like this was in LA after Christmas. Dressed 7 defenseman in LA then the Schenn-Vinny deal went down.

Who should they replace Umberger with, Weal?

Titanic -chairs

- MJL

honestly I don't get how you can say that when you yourself admit you know nothing about Weal. Once again, why not go with the unknown? who knows, maybe the unknown has something to offer and is a player. the known brings nothing anyway. I personally would rather give a player a true shot than continue with a player who looks so done

It's not a fact that any of them would be an upgrade. Umberger still plays well enough away from the puck defensively, and along the wall. Cousins and Leier are certainly more talented at this point, as is Weal, but that's all at this point. What is Weal, is he a skilled player whose offensive ability will translate to the NHL, or is he an AHL player?

Once the playoff picture is clearer towards the deadline, then I would be in favor of limited call ups for some of these players, provided they get enough icetime.

- MJL

Only one way to find out and that is to give a player(s) a chance. Sure as hell wish the Flyers gave that kid, Patrick Sharp, a chance. No, not saying Weal or anyone else is Sharp. Weal may be Potulny. but maybe he is a player. I just would like to see him play over RJ.

He's an unknown to us but he's not unknown to the coaching staff.

Pretty surprised to see someone like Prust on waivers with an expiring contract. I thought he used to be a decent PKer but I see he's only averaging 38 seconds/game on the PK. Am I thinking of someone else here? Also, I've always liked Mason Raymond too but being signed through next year makes him less likely to be claimed.

ahl all-star this season. having a great year.
- hammarby31

I caught the tail end of the AHL all star game and in the little I saw Stolartz was really good. was solid in getting the Atlantic into the final game and played well after the other Atlantic goalie let in 3 in the final game. I'm glad he is getting the call up. nice to reward the kid. be interesting to see if he gets in

based on practice? meh. Hexy is the one who knows him being he was involved in his being drafted. whatever, rather see Gagner in than RJ. against Montreal's speed I would prefer Weal over both.

Don't be so sure. This Flyers team will spend the first 2 periods still thinking it's still the All-Star break.

Not that I know of.

Maybe because he played with Hershey for so long they figured that he knows the middle of PA well enough to get to the rink?
