What do you think our guys are worth?? We have 5 total guys with value

McDavid
Hall
Leon
Nurse
Klef

That's it. Nuge and Ebs make $6 mil/year....... 6 (frank)ing million!!

- nanook82

6 million isn't really a problem for Nuge. Look around the league at 2nd line centers, J. Staal, ORielly, Dubinsky, Zajac all have similar deals.

I'm starting to get very concerned our players aren't worth what we hope
And/or
No gm wants to be that guy that guy who gives us the piece that puts us over the edge, so they're all driving brutally tough bargains

Nuge going down for 2 fuking months right when Connor came back also doesn't help our trade prospects

- HB77

Perennial bottom feeder team. All NHL GMs are absolutely low balling in terms of value. We're going to have to overpay in terms of trade value at some point to get what we need unless Chiarelli has a miracle up his sleeve. The only guys that would command true market value are Hall and Mcdavid, and we would be fools to trade either unless the return was disgusting. Even then....

This is essentially what I meant

The 5 you named are the core We're probably keeping

I understand the frustration, but Nuge and ebs absolutely have value.
Ebs has scored at a first line clip his entire career thus far and on the open market gets something very comparable to what he gets today.

Nuge is overpaid abit, but his potential/pedigree and his already high two way skills, put him in a class where 1c is far from a longshot.
At 22, the value isn't brutal by any means.

Agreed that we might overvalue them abit, but regardless id bet it's as much gm's driving hard bargains from what they see as a desperate organization as anything else

I'm willing to bet Leon would fetch a great return, but to your point above there are other players that should be moved before thinking about moving him. I think the ideal player for the Oil to trade would be Eberle.

yep

There's a bunch of factors that make it easy for them to lowball

If this team could just put some fuking wins together and not only help themselves appear less desperate, but also show the success these already tslented trade chips have; a deal'd be done yesterday

If I'm gm from team A- why am I just agreeing to Fair value for my top pairing defender that I know you're desperate to acquire?

Hometown fans will always over-value their own players.

Nuge - great 2-way player.... i guess? Softer than a pillow
Ebs - Elite sniper.... I guess? Softer than a baby's bottom

These two might, "might" get us a 3-4 D

With Schultz and Purcell coming off there is your space to grab a contract, and that top 5 pick you are certainly going to have would go a long way in a trade for a top 2 defenseman.

Nuge "might" only get us a #4 defender ?

Being frustrated with this team is one thing, as is realizing nuges potential alone isn't landing us a number 1. But using cynicism in the place of rationality is totally another thing altogether

You're probably right, I'm a lil frustrated.

But Nuge couldn't even get us Jones. To quote Poile "Liked RyJo's size"

So what #2 or #3 d-man is out there that Nuge can get us? I'm curious

It's tough to say, but Forgetting team needs, injuries etc/
Nuge is absolutely worth Brodin
Same goes for hamonic.
Same for trouba
Same for shattenkirk

Just for argument sake, in terms of potential; jones could be more valuable than any of those named to certain teams. And one like cbj who knows they're done this year, might be just that. Point is, not being quite worth Seth Jones might not be near the knock on Nuge you think. Any other year than hall or connor- I'd bet we take him at our pick over whoever our selection that year was.(nuge, yak, Leon, nurse)

If any deal gets done and we added, my guess is we were forced to due to desperation. But even still, it wouldn't be anything truly significant. Maybe take a salary dump, or we add a 3rd etc

To the Islanders, for Hamonic. Don't worry tho, were throwing in Lander.

Sekera
- Ihatebrianburke

its debateable

ill even kinda agree that sekera is our best defender for the most part this season.

either way, klefbom is 22, and has the size and ability to be significantly better than Andrej going forward

I would give them a 5th rounder to take him and retain half his salary

I think Klefbom will be better than Sekera. By how much, who knows. But right now Sekera is our best dman in my eyes, even if Klefbom is healthy.

I like your thinking. Just hope all those other GM's agree with you
