Hey, Hendo
Tavares finished 2nd in scoring in 2014-2015, was on a 95-point pace before getting hurt in the Olympics in 2014 and was a Hart Trophy Finalist in 2013. That's a pretty good track record for an overrated beneficiary of "east coast" bias.
He's had a down year so far but so was Crosby until a couple of weeks ago. So is Stamkos; Ovechkin was a -40 a couple of years ago.
Lets see McD get through a season before anointing him.
Also, the Isles aren't sneaking into the playoffs. They are right on schedule to walk through the front door as they have games in hand on everyone. |

NHL should step in and just give us the 3rd selection. Give someone else the 1st
This team is a sad sack of overpaid pieces of poop that don't show up to work. I'm gonna try this technique, see if it works for me - nanook82
I say we sell off whatever assets we have no intention of resigning, but play "buyers" with our pick.
I bet we could entice another bottom feeder to give up an asset to have two shots at the first few picks.
Or even a bubble team might be interested |

Seems like sneaking in to me. 4-5-1 before today in last 10. Awful record vs the East
Looks like another first round exit to me. But at least you'll make it there. Our playoffs start on draft day |

I lm just sick of inaction. The team is bad; everyone can see that. Now do something about it! Its been evident since game 15 that a change was needed. It didnt have to be huge but a step towards improvement would at least give us hope. Instead we get this tired "evaluation period" where they want to see the roster completely healthy (as if that almost ever is the case). The way the team played when injuries shouldve been a red flag early on. |

Like I get that trades arent easy, I really do, but the extent of difficulty Chiarelli is having is absurd. |

I agree its time for changes I dont think we need to see a full and healthy squad to see what is going to happen...maybe its 5-1 instead of 8-1...time for PC to put his GM hat on and be active at the deadline and during the offseason....while they are at it I think its time for Nillson to go down to Bakersfield and bring up Brossiot...a bunch of poop needs to happen before we ever can think about competing.....maybe someone can remind me in case im wrong but is this not the worst two games we played all year? and back to back on top of it?...no GM in his right mind can look at this team and say "hey guys I think there is potential here"....more lottery picks...just what we need |

Potential is there, but thats all it is. McDavid, Draisaitl, Hall, Davidson, and Klefbom are the 4 who have the pursuit type of game. The latter four have all developed leaps and bounds since drafting and McDavid is pretty much infallable to this point.
They should embody what the whole team strives for and are prime examples of leaders in one way or another. |

You can certainly build off of those 5 guys for sure and they are going to have to blow it up because what we have now isnt working and I dont know how many blowouts its going to take for anyone to see this....the season is over so no harm in making a bunch of moves now to get prepared for next year...this roster is going to have to look much different moving forward if there is ever a chance at us doing anything positive again

How would throwing Brossoit into this turd tank, even as a backup, be beneficial to him at all. Hes being brought along correctly.

While we're dreaming here.
I could see Eberle and our first being traded to Washington for Carlson + Johansson.
That could definitely benefit both teams.
Washington would love to have great depth on the wing.
Ovi-Backstrom-Eberle would be amazing.

Well for sure, I mean that's all the Oilers are good at, is claiming the top pick so why not the top 2 picks, they'll bury those young players anyways.
Pathetic organization & just loves being in the basement year after year after year after year. |

You totally misunderstood my post
You make it completely unnecessary to retort as you just embarrass yourself with no help from Us.

Washington would be retarded to make that deal with us. Carlson is a true #1 stud dman on a great contract. |

What if we went something like this.....
Hall / Draisaitl / RNH
Pouliot / McDavid / Eberle
???? / ???? / ????
Kassian / Letestu / Hendricks
Sekera / Hamonic (acquired using Klefbom)
Nurse / Vatanen (acquired using Yakupov)
Davidson / Gryba or Fayne
Reinhart spends time in the AHL until ready. Rebuild the 3rd line with defensively responsible forwards.

I think a real but painful option is trading Pouliot, don't see the value in Yakupov right now to gain a notable Top 4 dman. Pouliot was a UFA signing and its like finding free money if you can move him for a decent Dman.
If you draft one of the Finns this year, you have an instant Top 6 replacement in them |

RNH would net a true #1 defenseman, Draisitl as #2 center? Still need a franchise goalie. |

Whatever trade they do, they can't be desperate making it, even if its sitting on it until the start of next year, can't give away guy like Nuge unless true value is coming back.
I think the summer will be very interesting trade wise for the Oilers |
