i know im a wussy pens fan and all, but the best way to show a guy what they did is not allowed is for the league to suspend them. but we all know that really wouldnt happen.
im honestly surprised simmonds didnt get suspended simply due to the fact that mcdonagh is injured, with the ass backwards way the NHL evaluates things. - stayinthefnnet
There will be some kind of fight, probably at the beginning of the game and then hopefully everyone can move past this thing. |

If someone on the Rangers really wants to fight Simmonds, I'm sure he'll oblige. Then it will be over and everyone can complain about something else. |

Hey Bill...
I was reading about UFAs today and found that Lucic is due at the end of the season.
Do you think this is the type of guy to fill the top LW spot that seems to have been an issue for the past few years? Do you think Hextall may pursue any FAs come the summer? For the right price, is a 27 Year Old Lucic a good fit in the middle of this Hextall rebuild/retool?
I just really enjoy Luch plays and think he is the prototypical Flyer...physical, mean, passionate and skilled.

I mean we don't have any goons, so there's that. And Kreider would never fight, so there's that. Simmer probably will.
But I do agree if the roles were reversed. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't like to see star players with concussion histories suffer more unnecessary concussions. He deserved a rabbit punch for what he did or tried to do to Simmer, but he didn't deserve a concussion. I'm not celebrating that he got one. - Mononoke
I dont want to act like a typical flyers fan or anything...but it all starts with not cross checking someone in the back of the head. I dont see it any other way and I do have the ability to know when a Flyers player does something stupid (see: Gudas).
I do not want to see good players getting injured either, but I think if you lined up 20 people and cross checked 10 in the back of the head and punched 10 in the jaw...youd probably end up with more injured from the cross check. Sounds like a fun experiment |

exactly.
if he really did get crosschecked to the back of the head like that, im glad simmonds is alright. hate him in orange but hes a hell of a player.
nothing against mcD, but i thoroughly wouldnt mind if he needed to sit out tomorrow night's game to recoup some more. |

????
For taking a check to the back of the head?
Or throwing a weak punch perfectly placed? I have seen Simmonds hit Flyers in playful swats harder than he hit McDonagh.
I'm not thrilled with the whole tantrum stick throw at the end but I was pretty hot and I'd expect him to be as well... - FlyersGrace
Kerry Fraizer has a pretty good analysis of that situation on TSN. |

i didnt. wasnt trying to be a smart ass. i had the game on while i was on the treadmill at the gym but my visuals werent exactly that great. i could see the scrum and ejection and whatnot.
then when i got home and wanted to check it out, all the little snippets started right about when simmonds slashed his legs. but again, i understand how people can either intentionally or inadvertently portray things simply by deciding when to start and stop the show. - stayinthefnnet
didnt think you were being a smart ass I just cant believe you saw a part of that without the cross check

As much as I want to see Simmonds put him on his back...I really hope he doesnt let someone like Glass drag him into the box for 5 minutes

oh poop. nope. never saw that angle. never even saw a clip from that side of the ice. i realize im a little biased because i like simmonds but i have no problem with his response. he's had concussion issues too.

So, apparently, Tanner Glass is calling out Simmonds. - jmatchett383
it really blows my mind that nothing is said about a crosscheck to the head. its like it didn't happen. I mean, sure the proper response to taking a clean check is to protect yourself by cross checking someone in the (frank)ing head. (frank)ing idiots |

I have absolutely no sympathy for McD, he crosschecked another player in the head. Perhaps someone with a history of concussions shouldn't be targeting other players heads. (frank) him and (frank) Tanner Glass too. |

What I don't get is, Simmonds definitely didn't hit him THAT hard, how did he end up with a concussion? Simmonds took a full stick shot to the dome and skated off fine. Ryan McD is a puss. |

I wouldnt say that. Sometimes its just the way you get hit. My guess would be Simmonds was leaning his hip into McDonagh anyway so the cross check pushed his head down more than it "hit" him. McDonagh caught it square in the chin |

Apparently McDonagh has a history of concussions. My understanding is that once you have one, successive concussions are easier to come by.

did McDonagh do anything to instigate this?
the footage i saw started with simmonds giving him a wack across the back of the legs. not great, but not exactly something that doesnt happen. but it appeared like the kind that is a hey (frank)er dont do that again thing. and then the little paw to the face. i mean i guess if youre not expecting it, it doesnt take much to knock a guy out, but its not like he leaped and teed off on him. simmonds really isnt that kind of dude - stayinthefnnet
hey man.
Hope you're hangin in there |
