Stamkos shouldn't want to be a Leaf regardless of how he felt about them as a child growing up. I look at what the Leafs got for Kessel and Phaneuf. I look at the development of Morgan Riley and Jake Gardiner. What can these guys hang their hat on? What direction have they been going in since 2004?

On the flipside, I think the Flyers should go after Stamkos if/when he gets to UFA. There will begin the frustrating debate of whether or not the Flyers are holding back Couturier's offensive production by signing Stamkos. With this said, you can almost certain the Flyers chances at a championship with Giroux, Stamkos and Couturier down the middle. We still have plenty of fat to shed.

You are clearly a person of great intelligence and perspicacity, the Flyers should find a place for you in the front office. The Dept. of No Stupid Faces is obviously every bit as important as the Analytics Dept.

Barry has been on SC more frequently I've noticed, but they only show Caps or Blackhawks highlights, some Pens in there. Still a joke as always. My favorite is how the top 10 is usually 3-5 hockey plays but they get like 4 minutes of actual coverage during the show.

So if Philly had given up a similar package for Phenuef, what would it have looked like?

Shultz, Read, RJ, 2nd and Hagg?

I was reading about UFAs today and found that Lucic is due at the end of the season.
Do you think this is the type of guy to fill the top LW spot that seems to have been an issue for the past few years? Do you think Hextall may pursue any FAs come the summer? For the right price, is a 27 Year Old Lucic a good fit in the middle of this Hextall rebuild/retool?

I just really enjoy Luch plays and think he is the prototypical Flyer...physical, mean, passionate and skilled.

Lucic is becoming an outdated model. Too slow, too hotheaded, not enough finesse. Maybe if he were 24, but he's going to want more money than he'll be worth in a couple years, and at too long a term, IMO.

I have absolutely no sympathy for McD, he crosschecked another player in the head. Perhaps someone with a history of concussions shouldn't be targeting other players heads. (frank) him and (frank) Tanner Glass too.

Oh I'm not suggesting they should have traded for that contract and with a youth movement underway on the back end. I'm just trying to understand what OTT gave up in a way we can all understand. Phenuef with 2M per retained and I would have been interested.

Honestly, there's too many moving parts in that trade that I'm not familiar with to make an assessment of what it would've cost us or who benefits the most in the long run.

I think the vote on TSN at last look was 63% of people polled said Toronto won the trade, Craig Button said Ottawa clearly got the better end of it.

Take your pick, idiots on the internet or the guy who got fired from his General Manager gig.
