You could say the exact same thing about his trade from Calgary.

This just looks like some flotsam and jetsam and yeah, here, take Dion's contract.

I guess his presence in the deal makes Ottawa the short term winner, but this just looks like Tank Mode for Toronto.

Todd Cordell is saying Lindberg isn't a bad prospect. I like the deal from the Leafs perspective. Ottawa paying a poopload to two guys in Ryan and Phaneuf who likely won't age well. Not a great idea for a team that doesn't like to spend up to the cap ceiling.

They are taking on minimal salary commitments in order to get rid of a long term commitment. It is money going the other way so Ottawa can afford Dion. Greening has been buried...Cowen has not lived up to expectations and Michalek has been injured. They will also be offloading contracts at the TDL

I really wanted Cowen and Greening for AMac, but it is what it is.

I'm going tonight too and my record is ugly... it's 0-2-3 with the game I gave to a friend being another SO loss. But I'll still be there tonight thinking they've got to win soon when I'm there this season.

They'll likely let Grabner, Matthias, Spaling, and Parenteau go after this year. that's $9M right there. Nylander and Kapenen will turn NA pro next year and they'll buy out Lupul if they have to.
