What this team needs is to fix 3rd and 4th lines. They really don't bring much. They also need 1 more legit scoring threat to have 2 scoring lines. That jvr trade was a real kick to the nuts.Assuming porvorov, sanheim and Morin make it their D will be fine.Mase and nuervirth fine in goal.So I'm not to worried about if they get a top 5 or whatever pick.It would be nice if your going to miss the playoffs but i wont stress over it like leaf fans do.I also think konecny and Laughton are a good start to line 3.Although Laughton has had a tough year every once and a while you see a flash of brilliance. Just my 2 cents. |

They were out classed. The ducks have 4 lines that play a hard fast game. |

that's the result when your not ready to go from the puck drop....Anaheim is big, fast and stick to their system. They have really turned it around. I actually thought the Flyers had good spurts over the last few games but seem to be slipping back into that habit of 40 minute efforts.
One thing that stood out was how aggressive the Duck's PK was (tops in NHL). I mean even when the Flyers are protecting a lead in the final couple of minutes of a game...they go into a shell when they are a man down...successful PK's and odd man situations are about ONE thing....outworking the other guy. The Flyers don't even attempt that..... and considering the results I really don't get that. |

Not really any positives. Ghost extended his point streak, I guess that's about it. Just completely outplayed from the opening drop. Just throw it away and move on, you won't gain any positives from it except that you need to be ready to go hard for 60 minutes from the start. |

I know it's early, but: Any chance Kadri gets suspended for the throat slash / "You're dead!" at Giordano? Also, why the hell was he so pissed? It was a good hit, he had his head down cutting to the goal. |

Funny take on the Leafs-Sens trade...may have been seen yesterday but it basically says the Leafs did everything they could on the ice this year to trade Phaneuf...funny how you can have other priorities when you arent trying to win

We know the Flyers are what they are ... a bubble team at best. However I cant get over this ongoing issue with the PK. To be a season long struggle and date back to last year as well, it has to fall on the coaching. It was mentioned in the previous blog by another poster but they were able to witness two of the top 5 PK teams (Caps & Ducks) right in front of their eyes the last two games and how they're successful ... by being aggressive and forcing the PP to make quick decisions. I don't understand this passive box/diamond which usually ends up collapsing in front of Mason. How on Earth are two guys wide open down low after the shot got through on the first goal last night?
Mason has been very vocal about wanting to see the shot and if you're going to get in front of it, it has to be blocked. Why wouldn't a coaching staff institute a PK structure to make your goaltender comfortable. This passive box just creates way too much traffic for Mason and then he has to fight off one or two guys down low once the shot gets through. It doesn't work and IMO has been the teams biggest issue thus far. So as much as I loved and respected Laperriere as a player, he's failed big time with the PK unit. |

Okay Hexy, the time is now. Sell sell sell!!! Jake, G, Simmons, Ghost & Mason are the only untouchables on this team. The rest are ready to move. In the minors, Konecny & Provorov are the only untouchables. Time to make a move & get the sniper we have so desperately needed for years. |
