I don't like Dave Hakstol. Last season Matt Read was horrid. Later it turned out he had an injury but for whatever reason, Berube felt it necessary to keep playing him. This season Read looks decent but it's pretty obvious he can't overcome the shortcomings of Laughton and Umberger, so Read gets punished. - SuperSchennBros
I am surprised by both being scratched.
But it's not really a terrible thing. The problem for me is that if you want guys like Laughton and Read to produce they need to be used more.
My problem is the reliance of the Bellemare line. I understand there is a trust thing but I would rather be playing my skilled guys over my muckers.
I would treat Laughton like Gostisbehere. You have to let them play and live with the mistakes they make for the better of the future for this team. |

To see something even funnier, check out Laughton's possession numbers. They are hilariously bad, no matter who he has played with. And despite getting easy minutes.
I really think he needs some more time in the AHL oven, cause in the NHL he is undercooked. But for Weal, it's make or break time so I'm glad to see him in the lineup. |

It's to early to tell but we all believe he's untouchable and this kid has carried this team on hia back most of his career. Assuming he isn't traded before age 33, he should be highly considered. - SuperSchennBros
I would definitely agree that he is on track to have it retired. |

Hextall - yes

Why does he deserve better? Because he is so effective?
He hasnt had a good season since 2013-14. He is supposed to provide some supplemental offense, but thats not happening either. Maybe a game or two off will help.
We sorely lack offensive punch outside of the top 6, and Read isnt helping any. |

I don't like Dave Hakstol. - SuperSchennBros
I do. He's clearly still learning how to deal with the pro game but he seems to have made a lot of progress since the beginning of the season and it shows on the ice. I think he's the guy this team needs for the next 5 years at least.

Oh, well wait a minute then, I may have to rethink my opinion. Players saying good things doesn't seem to carry weight around here. |

I hate the treatment of Matt Read. He deserves better. - SuperSchennBros
What treatment?
Read said he played best on RW. Same as Simmonds and Schenn.
Simmonds playing well on top line and Schenn playing well with Couturier until injury.
For a while the top 2 lines were playing well together.
Voracek - Giroux - Simmonds
Raffl - Couturier - Schenn
Not sure where he was going to go based on his preference and how things were.
Also I think Read's role is that of a 3rd line winger. Kind of like Raffl. Guys nice to have but not guys I think you want in your top 6 where you rely on them to produce continually. |

He also has seemed to give them an identity.
Once they increase talent I think you'll see him really flourish. |
