It does show you just how disconnected fans are from prospects though. People were pissed when we didn't take Shink with the 9th overall pick. |

The curious part of this Shinkaruk Granlund deal is that everyone against the deal are very animated, and those for it, none of them are jumping for joy. - Scooby_Doo
That is curious...perhaps the fans that are opposed stat watch and over value our prospects/ players while those that are for the trade are slightly more rational. The "pro" crowd seem to be able to objectively evaluate the trade from a distance and don't let emotions cloud reason. I'm part of the "pro" crowd in case you were wondering |

The reason I don't care or am not jumping for Joy is Granlund is a 3/4 liner. Shink I never honestly seen him playing on the Canucks.
Whenever JB was asked about Shink he would say " You Know , he is doing ok . He is coming along fine . We are still trying to improve his defensive part of the game"
He never stood behind Shink |

Gillis said no to some early offers. He publicly tried to blame Luongo for not waiving... Luongo called BS on it and said he was never approached about any trades to waive. So Gillis lied or he did have some options... and lied about turning them down. So, Gillis lied one way or the other... - boonerbuck
I think both Gillis and Luongo lied about his waiving or not waiving. However I don't think there was any legitimate trade option for him to actually waive for. Do you remember the trade-deadline day with Nonis disingenuously stringing Gillis along until the final few minutes? Luongo was fully expecting to get moved that day and was so disappointed that he issued the "My contract sucks" quote. |

No for the right deal keep all the salary. It doesn't matter it won't affect the cap next year. - VANTEL
I will still assume that you mean for us to keep the max of what we can keep according to the CBA.
I think it's 100% of the 50% that we're aloud to keep, right

(frank)ing Nonis. Kept dropping his offer trying to be a hero.
Imagine had they landed Lou? They'd likely be in the playoffs. |

Maybe if Gillis was to retain salary and pretty much give Luongo to them for free he'd have been interested, but I don't think Nonis really had any intention of actually making a serious trade for Luongo. Just stirring the pot to get the media here riled up and mess with the team he left behind. |

Pretty sure you can't retain more than 50%. Not positive by any means. - Marwood

Hawaii was awesome, so warm and dry.
Only pizza pie we had was a hawaiian with Canadian bacon. So good.
Years that we had to leave.
I see the team kinda embraced the tank while I was gone

There is a difference between embracing the tank and making the best out of missing the playoffs...
JB's last trade isn't really either.
Waiting for him to make some moves and make the best out of missing the playoffs... and expecting some disappointment. |

Glad to hear the tropics were warm & embracing.
Hard to beat anything with bacon.
Don't cry, you'll be back or go somewhere that is more incredible.
The team had a couple of iffy games while you were away. It's probably best that you missed it. |

Phew.
No offence, but I was going to have to reevaluate any criticism you had towards the Leafs accordingly, the same way I do VANTEL. But, you're good. As you were. |
