One would have to assume that with Friesen in the minors, Horvat,Sutter,Sedin,McCann as centers. Linden Vey and Cracknell are now gone.. It makes me wonder IF McCann is now being shopped for a high end talent winger?

I think they would be willing to make room if it was for a high end prospect like him. One would have to think that Mccann would be involved in that deal if it were ever to happen (highly doubt).

Good article Carol, sums up a lot of the questions around this trade. They must know/think something about Shink that we all don't. I wonder if being overloaded at center means they might be dangling a player like McCann or Bo for top-d D or in a package... I am not sure what this means, but I hope it's an indication that this team isn't afraid to load up the assets in order to have some tradable assets and that they are going for d prospects and picks hard.

That's the positive I'm trying to take "oh, now one of the centers need to go" unfortunetly that pretty much means McCann or Bo, unless the Sedin's are on the move

Definitely could see this as a "more to come" situation. Pulling the trigger a week before the deadline when you could further evaluate things makes me feel they are working on something bigger that might come down to the final hour

Benning, Linden, Green and the scouts aren't high on Shink so they wanted to ship him out before they were forced to play him in the NHL. I think it's fairly simple, they felt his value would diminish as he flounderd on the Canucks next season. I tend to agree but we won't know if it was a smart move for a few years. I think Shink would get crushed in the NHL and he will have trouble scoring as well. His shot is pretty average so he won't be able to score from the perimeter like Boeser or Mccan are able to.
