That's not true. Today the Flames won the trade. They got the better player.

People keep saying this must mean that there is another deal coming... Well no poop, the trade deadline is less than a week away and we are sellers... Hopefully

I've lost all faith in Benning as a GM. He over analyses deals, players etc... he has no management skills, he's a hockey mind that scouts players. He's going back to the well with players he's been high on before that didn't pan out (Bartkowski) or his AGM was high on that didn't pan out (Baerstchi, Granlund). I'm very concerned at what will happen in the next week.

The next week and the draft will shape this franchise for the next 10 years. I really hope he doesn't mess it up.

I am a bit surprised that Drouin and Tampa haven't been linked to Dallas and Nichushkin.

Look at Jeff Carter and Mike Richards. Prime examples.

Granlund will never be anything more than something we could easily have picked up on waivers or drafted in the 5th round. Shinkaruk has high end talent, and could be a 1st or 2nd line winger. Granlund will never be that.

The move makes no sense. We gave up a younger player for someone who is about to become waiver eligible. Basically we let the Flames off the hook. Smart move Benning.

Better AHL numbers, already playing in the NHL, and now motivated to prove the Flames wrong...

He is a Leafs fan so you need to take the comments with a grain of salt. Perhaps he is just trolling us (well done I might add).

I keep hearing people say this... But I haven't found any comparable stats that would back up this statement. Granlund has scored at a better pace than Shinkaruk at the AHL level, and is, by all accounts, better defensively.
- nucks_94

This could have been the kicker. Scouts on Shink have been claiming he is a weak perimeter player that has basically garnered most of his points on the PP. Not a two way guy that needs to be in the tope 6. Apparently Granlund has the two way game JB and his scouts look for. I'm willing to wait and see on this one and hope it's another baertchi. Although it would have been nice to see Shink on the Nucks for at least half season next year to gauge him but it wasn't to be.

Granlund put up more points then shink in his rookie season in the A. Does this man he's better?
Doesn't matter.
Granlund had put up more points in the nhl, does it matter? Nope.

This just means McCann is in the A next year or is traded when we win the lottery.

You lost what little respect you had garnered when you listed the leafs as you number 2 team. ...
Actually now that you've mentioned it, they kinda are a streaming pile of number 2 right now. ...
I guess it kinda makes sense.

Not so fast Scooby, Granlund had 25 goals and 46 points in 52 games when he was the same age as Shinkaruk in the ahl. I would bet TravisGreen says Shink will never make it.

I have a weird feeling that McCann IS getting traded this week. I hope I am wrong.
- Codes1087

He or Bo, although I don't think Cracknell is here next year either. Granlund is part of the new bottom 6, should resign for a pretty reasonable number I hope. If he can win FO's and PK well, I don't hate the deal. Clearly he's not as skilled as Shink, but maybe we just got an NHL bottom 6 for a AHL top 6.

Clearly there are a few people in the organization waving the red flag on Shink, who knows what the issues are but that's what you hire these guys to assess.

I think he is a better player than Shinkaruk, Granlund can create chances on his own where Hunter need a playmaker to succeed. How you can say he is not as skilled as Shinkaruk is absurd.

I have said it before and I still believe it to be true....

No one will know who won this trade until 2020.
