Dimes to dollars, its McCann and Gaunce for Drouin....
- chompsey

According to McKenzie there are 15 teams interested in Drouin. I hope the Canucks get outbid. If Gaunce and McCann are getting packaged then I hope it is for a top 4 defenceman.

I think I would do that trade. Love McCann, dont mind losing Gaunce, but Drouins upside make me drool! His sense of entitlement and attitude, might be an issue. But nothing the Sedins and BoHo couldnt get in line.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have a question about Matthews, and since we might have a shot at him, thought I would get the knowledgeable opinions of my fellow Canuck's fans.

Is Matthews a generational talent like a McJesus or Crosby, or is he ,or Elite like a Taverese or Seguin?

Just curious as I hear how amazing he is but not very many comparables.

- JMD007

I think he will be a very good #1 Center. I think Taveres would be a good comparable but he is not McDavid.

WD said today Vrbata may be out a week or two. Not surprised about the injury. Ian MacIntrye said two weeks ago Vrbata probably didn't want to move because of pregnant wife.

Subban healthy scratch last game after scoring 5 pts in the few previous games. Head scratcher could be trade related.

Before I give thumbs up or down to the trade need to see how MG fits on the roster and what other trades follow. It can't be a stand alone trade. It makes no sense.

Today MG was playing with Vey and Etem.

After next week they should bring in Gaunce and Pedan lets see what we have.

Nobody. At least not since HNIC decided everything had to be all-Leafs, all the time. Had they gone with a true national coverage approach as was CBC's mandate, we would have been exposed to other markets more often. That potentially would have made more of us interested in other teams and not just limited to our own markets.
- YeOldTimer

Hell, I've got a 2nd (Montreal) and a 3rd (Florida) favorite team... but then again, I live in the States and don't get HNIC

That's not true. Today the Flames won the trade. They got the better player.

People keep saying this must mean that there is another deal coming... Well no poop, the trade deadline is less than a week away and we are sellers... Hopefully

I've lost all faith in Benning as a GM. He over analyses deals, players etc... he has no management skills, he's a hockey mind that scouts players. He's going back to the well with players he's been high on before that didn't pan out (Bartkowski) or his AGM was high on that didn't pan out (Baerstchi, Granlund). I'm very concerned at what will happen in the next week.

The next week and the draft will shape this franchise for the next 10 years. I really hope he doesn't mess it up.

This Canucks Management Team Scares the poop out of me, I have not seen one move since them taking over that has made sense. The Italians step in at the end of the Season and this Group, Willie, Trevor, and Jim get flushed. Book it, too bad for them, good guys.

Not like Crosby or Mcjesus for sure. Seems like a definite no 1 centre like E. Staal (years back) or Tavares level

Gotta stop comparing Gillis and Benning. Both in trades and draft productivity. One was continuing to try and win with a highly successful team while their window was still open. The other is merely poking the residual tire fire of that success, waiting for it to burn itself out.
- YeOldTimer

Why wouldn't I compare them? I am not judging Gillis for making "win now" transactions I am judging him for indecision and a general paralysis when it came to making trades. Near the end of his tenure he simply let the core erode and left the team in a terrible position due to fear of his perception in the media. Also, why wouldn't we compare their draft record? This is an odd comment. I don't care to debate the subject now but fans should definitley compare the past regime to the current one.

No I dont think I would that. Bo is future captain of the Canucks (i believe), but with the glut of centers we have, I would let McCann go in a trade for Drouin.

How about this. Allegedly the Leafs and Blues are discussing Kadri for Shattenkirk (as per EF). We are desperate for defense, maybe McCann + for Shattenkirk?

The Sutter trade was a win for the Canucks as well. Sutter is better then Bonino and Clendening is an AHLer.

Yup, we spent a long time talking about how Chicago flipped core pieces before they got stale. MG didnt do that, which I dont blame him for since I dont know what the market was for any roster players. But his stance with Luongo stands out the most as holding out for better and the offers got worse and worse. JB just pulls the trigger for better or for worse and tries to fix the ones that arent cutting it

Looking at the ice-time and match-ups they have given Bo in his sophomore season, I don't see Bo going anywhere.

Yep, have to give it to JB. He isn't adverse to risk or cutting his losses if he doesn't think it is going to work out. But I am sure others would argue that point.

How can anyone rationally say that they got the better player when he has had 9 minutes of NHL ice time? Lots of careers are started and ended in the A.
