[quote=fiveandagame]Hamhuis said Tuesday the team hasn't asked him or his agent about waiving his no-trade clause, reports Jay Janower of Global BC. Regardless, the 33-year-old admits he and his family are discussing their options as they anticipate a potential move. ]
He has to ask himself will I look better playing with Goligoski or Bartowski in his contract year? |

Let's just hope bringing in another centerman means one is on the way out for some dfensive help down the road. Imagine getting a right handed dman with substantial size who can play in every situation alongside Ben Hutton for the next 5-8 years. |

Luongo's contract was unmoveable until Tallon thought he had enough to work with in Florida that he needed a veteran goalie to backstop his young talent. Made no sense to pay for that luxury when you're a losing team on a low budget. Now that investment makes sense. Timing more than anything to do with the GM.
Again, not defending Gillis. Just trying to look at things a bit more realistically. - YeOldTimer
I remember hearing rumblings how the werent going to eat salary (could be aquillini talking), and they were wanting a 1st rounder, roster player and a top prospect because they felt Lou was a top flight goalie regardless of his contract. The end result was a mediocre 3rd liner and an almost project prospect goalie while eating salary. The market changes and I think that it wasnt the worst deal they couldve made, but there were offers rumoured to be out there that beat what they ended up taking |

he is massively skilled and was drafted top 3, plus the lightning gave him a shiitty development track and f*d him around lots so he likely underperformed and wasn't developed properly while there.... - kaptaan
Compared with McCann's development track of playing with Dorsett and Prust every 2nd game?
Not arguing with you about Drouin's skill, just don't see enough evidence that he's the proven saviour we'd give away multiple assets for. I'd prefer to save that for an RFA D with top four potential who can be picked up over the summer when another team runs into cap trouble. That's what I'd like to see them do with the prospects and cap space JB should be accumulating. |

Gillis was bad at trades - VANTEL
And drafting and hockey. I played with him and it's shocking he played in the NHL |

Neem....Im pretty sure Bo is untouchable.
I would think with Vey being scratched the C thats maybe leaves would likely be Vey or Cracknell. Id rather keep cracknell if you ask me, more of a 4C type than Vey and a better FO% w physical play to boot. Cracknell wont have any trade value really however, but Vey will given age, draft position, potential etc.
maybe neither are back. - SMBDragon
If I'm being honest, Bo is only in a package for someone like Stamkos or a big time d-man. McCann is the guy I see as more expendable as a result of this trade. Vey doesn't have much in the way of vvalue |

I wouldn't be so quick to call Granlund a full time NHLer either...he didn't make the Flames out of camp and was only called up after injuries. Drouin has a higher ceiling for sure, he was third overall for a reason.

Some of his UFA signings were ridiculous as well. Just don't think you can pump Benning's tires for being 'more decisive' when the circumstances are so dramatically different.

McCann and Hammer for drouin and a third. Maybe some people on here think McCann and Drouin have equal value, but I don''t think so. |

Why? just because they play centre? they are both very different centres, McCann is top 2C, Granlund bottom 2C |

JM could be just going to play on the Comets. His team is down one game already. He could be in Utica next week - VANTEL
This makes the most sense for his development and could explain why Shinkaruk was expendable now even if Utica are hoping to go on a playoff run.
Can they send him to the AHL from the NHL if his CHL team is out of the playoffs or does he have to be assigned to his Jr team first and then released?
When does Virtanen go down as well? Now or later?

I don't think it was so much stubbornness that they were holding out from taking back salary, as they couldn't afford to. They were pressed up against the cap pretty hard during that whole period. I think the cap relief was probably more valuable to them than any prospects or draft picks.

They both can go down once their jr team is finished. I don't think JV will be sent down. |

Calgary won it. - magmoo
I was so mad when I heard this yesterday. But after giving it some thought, I don't think it will be known for a while exactly who won the trade. It's the unknown ceiling of Hunter that makes me nervous about moving him (especially to a div rival). But essentially we traded a player with a better basement for a player with a possibly higher ceiling. Time will tell. I just hate watching a Canadian Kid with a ton of heart walk out the door and European kid come back through it. |

Carol will be happy. 1000+ responses in relation to an AHL player traded for another NHL lite player.
I think we will break HB if the Sedins get traded. |
