Why? just because they play centre? they are both very different centres, McCann is top 2C, Granlund bottom 2C - A_SteamingLombardi
I think Bo and McCann are both top 6 centers, but 2nd liners. Whether or not McCann is truly at that level is debatable, but niether guy is the 1c of the future. We don't need two second line centers, McCann has been a great bottom 6 center this year, but now that we have another bottom 6 center he is more expendable. At least that the logic I'm going off of. |

Not until the Sedin era is over, only then can Vancouver "truly rebuild." |

Nichushkin and Benn for Hamhuis And McCann - VANTEL
This is not a terrible deal for both sides actually. I'm not sure Jordie is available, as he clearly has some upside. |

Naslund and the WCE were here for much of the last rebuild where the Sedins were cutting their teeth. You keep them around until Bo and co. are ready to hold the torch. |

I'm not sure, I see McCann similar to Kesler in that hes an excellent 2C but might not be able to cut it in the #1 role, but somewhere between the two, and Bo as in between 2C and 3C, depending on his offensive output. Either way, if those are the Canucks' top two centers 5 years from now, I wouldnt have a problem with it. Turris in Ottawa is doing a decent job playing 1st line, even though I dont think hes a true #1C either |

They would be very similar to the burgeron and krecji duo in boston and nothing wrong with that. Just have put some bigger guys around them. |

Exactly, I was thinking of Bergeron as a Bo comparison, but Kreicji works well for McCann too. Neither are flashy but are solid |

Yup! But if weber who has like 5 points got a 3rd im very curious to see what hamhuis would get.
Edit: Would he have similar value to bart? id assume so |

I dont think McCann will be traded, but maybe this trade is to set up the team for moving him to the wing? Honestly he could have great potential with this team as a RW, dunno... such an odd trade.... My only other theory is that JB really didnt like him, and he was being honest when he said that was the best he could get for him (im thinking he was probably just looking for a 1 for 1 swap, and no system trades young ELC players unless they are over them. |

I'd rather see Edler traded and Hamhuis extended at this point. Edler is the type of guy you want for playoff runs, and that's just not for us, Hamhuis is for rebuilds. Trade Edler while we can still get something for that pylon. |

I wana trade hamhuis now and edler at the draft. Then id have no problem signing hamhuis on july 1.
Great way to maximize assets |

don't think he was every on the list. Washington never had the cap space to acquire someone like hamhuis. |

Pretty unqualified claim, why don't you elaborate.
See my logic is, we had 3 bottom six centers in Vey/Crack/McCann. Addition of Granlund, we have 4 (still with me?). so that means we have too many bottom six centers, the bottom six center with the most return value is, wait for it... McCann. It's an inference based on math, which as it turns out is fairly sane. |
