Ladd for Dano and first, plus a conditional pick - Retinalz
Marlo Dano, 1st in 2016 and a conditional for Ladd, Harrison and Fraser. Wpg retains 36% of Ladd's remaining salary. |

Thanks Carol
There is some super interesting stuff from Hamhuis on TSN Vancouver radio right now. He seems pretty down to be leaving. Says he is open to a return in the summer to VAN and also thinks if he gets asked, he will be going to a contender - Codes1087
But he wasnt in JB's list on Twitter. He isnt going anywhere.

Totally worth it. We didnt lose a roster player. Idc if its a rental, we were't going to see anything out of Dano or that 1st rounder until future years and RIGHT NOW we have a chance to make history as arguably the greatest hockey team ever. - SimpleJack

Yikes, if true thats (frank)ing pricey - Whiskey-Tango
It's always like this. Every yr. I don't know why unless you were in a playoff spot or a point or 2 out, you wouldn't sell.
Looky what the leafs got for for Spaling and Polak. Polak a 6 and Spaling is a depth player.
Thus my comments that benning can't say he isn't getting good offers

How can you argue with this logic,
" Step 1. Acquire Ladd
Step 2. Acquire Hamhuis
Step 3. Acquire Boedker
Boedker-Toews-Hossa
Panarin-Anisimov-Kane
Ladd-Danault-Teravainen
Desjardins--Shaw
Keith-Hjalmarsson
Gustafsson-Seabrook
Hamhuis-TvR" |

I am super surprised they paid that much for Ladd. I mean I totally understand it, but what do they do with him come Summer? - Codes1087

As a GM looking to bolster your team for a cup run, you look for certainty. You make sure you have as much depth as possible to compensate for inevitable injuries. You also want experienced vets who are proven. You expect they'll be able to handle the pressure situations better than someone who's younger and maybe has had a stronger regular season. You might start your younger guys and keep the hired gun you traded for in the press box, but he's still there and ready to come in if your own guys can't step up. Bottom line is, giving your team the best chance for success in a cup run covers your ass and maybe keeps you in your job if you don't win. That's why teams overpay more at this time of year than any other.
Hamhuis' resume suggests he's worth a first. - YeOldTimer
Agree whole heartedly.
Playoff runs require depth n experience.
Hamhuis in the 3/4 pairing gives just that.
Riding Seabrook/Keith is one thing but Kjalmerson/Hamhuis is a seriously good 2nd pairing. Vrbata is in a lesser role on team like Chicago n fits nicely. He adds depth for another cup run.
I see it as Hamhuis/Vrbata for Bickell/1st n maybe a prospect or Pokka/Bickell/2017 2nd. Just my 2 bits.

Given past prices and the Ladd price benning will clearly be offered more then that. The canucks should be able to net a blue chipper for Hamhuis alone or 1st and B prospect.
I'm gonna say he goes to one of Tampa, Pitts, Or the kings

Any deal with Bickell coming here spells the end for Burrows.
A buyout or moved out cheap this TDL n eat salary maybe 1/2m.
Hansen is a gem tbh n hate to see him go but at the right price it could happen.
Much depends on which vets JB wants around next year n Hansen brings it every game at a great price.
Next years roster could be really different n the next few days will say much on how that will look.
Do we blow it up or 1/2 way do it remains to be seen. |

I can see him in TB but idk what Pitt or LA would offer that we would like.
Neither has a 1st n their prospects r not that deep IMO
Btw Hawks still have their 1st. |

I don't see a deal happening now with the Hawks |
|
|
|
But put yourself in Chicago's shoes: why do you give up a #1 and a highly touted dman for Vrbata and Hammer? Does that deal seem like smart move for your org? - Ronning4ever
Not to pour gas on the fire, but #1 and a forward prospect for Ladd and 2 depth players is the far better deal...and Chicago still paid high.

Funny enough, that 2010 team is probably the best team of the last 15-20 yrs. Probably since the mid 90's wings team |
