Thanks Carol
There is some super interesting stuff from Hamhuis on TSN Vancouver radio right now. He seems pretty down to be leaving. Says he is open to a return in the summer to VAN and also thinks if he gets asked, he will be going to a contender |

Hamhuis sounds like he knows he is going. Almost as though he HAS been asked to waive but is not allowed to say. |

More importantly, he sounds open minded to being moved to a contender. |

Or, just that he's letting it be known that they *can* ask him and he could be amenable.
For his sake, I'd love to see him go to Chicago. He'd give us a legitimate reason to support them in the playoffs

100% agree. Would love to see him win a cup and return next summer. |

Probably his best chance at a Championship and it would be nice to see hammer hoist the cup. Having said that I am not an advocate of re-signing him in the summer even at a discount. We need to move on. |

In this case, Benning is certainly out to fill a need, and I'm pleased to see the team moving on from Weber. A fifth-round pick is a low price to pay, but I'll be surprised if Larsen turns out to be anything more than a marginal upgrade
sorry Carol, you are WRONG!!!!! ... according to the ASSet management experts around here .... |

How many games have you seen Bartkowski/Weber play this year? |

Would love to see Hammer traded and then resign in the off-season.
I have listed the positives he brings to the table before.
Name me some better options that could be signed that are upgrades?
I am not saying we need to bring the same D corps back, but it is good 'asset mgmt' to trade Hammer, sign him (for free) and trade other Dmen for assets if you want to shake things up.

Or to the Ducks, again... They have the cap space and young D prospects the Canucks would want. |

Im in that same boat, and as my whole family are Hawks fans, I wouldn't mind actually rooting for them to win..... for Hammer's sake. Then, I wouldn't be that one guy who roots against the team everyone else is cheering for and then would love to see him come back to Van a Champion |

Dbot...Id agree with that. He has been positives. Some people get venomous about getting him out though, probably only cause theyve seen it posted here a ton.
I agree with what are you gonna replace him with....we are in early 2016. Hammer won olympic gold in 2014, so not that long ago. We are likely better off with him....barring some serious retooling on JBs part. Cant see enough done to warrant him being ejected. Especially if youre including larson on that project. |

I doubt the team would ask him not to publicly say he's been asked to waive. They're more likely to have a bidding war with higher returns if it's common knowledge he's willing to move on.
Maybe it's a family thing. "No honey. I don't want to go play with the Blackhawks, have my one shot to win a cup, set us up for a bigger payday next year, and live the single life for 4 months. I'd rather stay home with you and the kids and help all the new young Canucks' try to win 4 or 5 of their last 20 games." |

It is tough letting the guy go. Quality player and team mate.
But.... if he was to return, we would likely have to move a lhd... Edler?
I don't want Hutton to go anywhere and I want Pedan in the lineup...
difficult decisions.

Never been a big fan of Hammer, but the fact that he's currently our 2/3 best dman says a lot and the team can use any decent d-core that it can get.
Glad to hear that he might be willing to accept a trade. If he does come back though, and if you want him back - winning the cup is probably not something you'd want to see....would only increase his value.
I think a lot of teams would want Vrbata just for his shot production, especially in the age of analytics...take what you can get! |
