why not target Chicago's next two firsts?
try something along the lines of Hammer and the torts second ,conditionally protected, The condition being they win the cup this year, for a cap dump in bickell and their 2017-2018 1st's and Pokka

He's 24 and 6'9 235. I agree though, doesn't seem like that great of a prospect.

- neem55

the second back could just be a few picks apart

but it would be a starting point to negotiate...maybe two seconds and then we risk the chance of having a lower second

Question: Lets say if you give up a 1st in 2016 and a 1st in 2017 and you are guaranteed a Stanley Cup. You win for sure. Do you do it?

Me: Hell yes and it does not even matter if its your 3rd or 4th cup in how ever many years you do it. Its why you play.

From JJ.

"Hearing hard push for Hamhuis underway, Bickell could go to Van, could go down soon"

He's slightly less connected than Ek.

They are getting a second back, in the year after next. A year where CLB and VAn could be foreseeably more competitive than they are now. I guess I just don't see it. I think their first this summer they werre willing to part with, but the following two all in the same TDL period seems pretty far.

Hansen and Bart to ducks for S Theodore
Hamhuis for Poulliot
Vrbata and Prust for Panthers 2nd and 3rd
Edler(back by mid March) for Droulin

nothing guarantees cups. But in some fantasyland where this is the case, I'd likely do the trade.

my reason to go after the future picks is to gamble for expansion , the the Chi 1st could potentially be a lottery pick

People are under valuing the cup. Load up take a run. Its going to cost you you but the prize is worth it. Dallas and washington will be kicking themselves if they stand pat and don't win.

Then they can keep Bickle and trade just next years 1st.

So Polak is worth 2 seconds but Hamhuis maybe a 2nd?
- Scooby_Doo

Polak AND Spalling are worth two 2nds not just Polak...

You are overvaluing Hamhuis at a 1st AND a prospect...it could be for a straught first or a second + roster player/prospect. Polak did not garner two 2nds alone.

Spelling wasn't even a regular in the leafs line up. He was just a throw in
Mike Weber got a 3rd
Hamhuis should bring what Sekera brought last yr

Just about every team has a cup. Tanking is the new orange. First overall is better than a cup

Hammer is the best D available if he stays I'm cool but if he is traded its for a first. Money well spent.

It wouldn't work because they have to move salary.
