The D is such a question mark, especially if we get a decent one back for Hamhuis.
For fun let say (positions/sides not in equation)
Edler-Tanev
Pokka*-Hutton
Pedan-Sbisa
then we have,
Hamhuis* (?)
Tyramkin(?)
Biega
If that's the case, do we resign Hamhuis?
I would. Wouldn't be the worst top 4. - Whiskey-Tango
I think you are going to see Larsen in on bottom pairing RHD Webers replacement. JB said we have to fix that side |

I would re-sign Hamhuis and trade Sbisa if possible. - golfingsince
Ya, that's what I'm leaning towards as well.
Again, hypothetically, but how hilarious would it be to have Hamhuis playing alongside and molding Pokka. Kid seems like a smart, reliable Hamhuis type with more offensive upside.

I would also trade Sbisa but I wouldn't sign Hamhuis unless Edler goes. I want minimal resemblance of this years D as possible |

At this rate i'm torn into thinking that i hope we lose the lottery so Benning is forced to take the best D available. (not including the possibility to trade/down) - Whiskey-Tango
Ok i'll play along but what is our pick n rank the D prospects.
Q: Do we trade down n get another pick?
FYI I see JB not leaving the D standing pat predraft |

I'd tell Hamhuis if he waive we'll give him 3 years in the summer with a limited NTC for the first 2. |

I don't see Edler, Tanev and Hamhuis as the problem. With Hutton and Biega that's still 2 more spots to fill. |

I think 7-8 would be a pretty safe/realistic position.
Thus, if the draft shapes up to go:
1.Mat
2.Fin
3.Fin
4. Tkachuk
5. Nylander
That guarantees us the possibility of one of Chychrun/Juolevi/Sergachev.
Ideally, i hope to grab the one with the most offensive upside, probably the Russian. |

Pedan will be the number 7 next year
Larson will be 6 RHD
Tyk is the wild card, I'll peg him as number 8 right now for next season
I believe Hammer will be back. |

There very well could be someone else on the roster, depending what happens here at the deadline and over the summer. |

It is too hard to predict what is going to happen IMO . Sbisa and Biega under contract Pedan with the waiver eligible , and bringing in Larsen ,spots are filling fast.
Also with they TRyamkin talk, it is a wait and see summer. |

At 7/8 we get a D easily but if we fall further or move up on the lottery luck is my Q.
We take aFinn for a great pick or trade down.
I'm cool with trading down to 9/10/11 n get another 2nd n take say Fabbro or one of the other 3 if still available. |

Ya i dunno, personally wouldn't be a fan of trading down as i see this draft as having a massive drop off in talent outside the top 10. If we wind up in that 7 to 10 range we got to take the BPA, preferably a D as he would constitute one of the best at his position in the entire class. |
