I did say that about Edler and Higgins last season. I did say it about Higgins this year too. - VANTEL

We build our own beds
I deserved it.
My opinion is I would absolutely 100 % love to have Hamhuis over Edler , but that is very unlikely. One of them needs to be moved. We can't have our D resembling this years lineup. |

So now that Vrbata and Hammer might be packaged together, what do we think the return could be? |

Bickell should have nothing to do with the trade. Why do we need to take his salary? Are they offering the 2017 2 nd round pick with it? |

i would hope for more. Toronto basically got a 2nd rounder for eating Torres salary... and that was only for the remainder of this year..... Bickell has another year to go! |

Never been a big fan of Hammer, but the fact that he's currently our 2/3 best dman says a lot and the team can use any decent d-core that it can get.
Glad to hear that he might be willing to accept a trade. If he does come back though, and if you want him back - winning the cup is probably not something you'd want to see....would only increase his value.
I think a lot of teams would want Vrbata just for his shot production, especially in the age of analytics...take what you can get! - Ronning4ever
Of course you want a winner that is a good leader in the locker room and on the ice. If he comes back at a good rate then I am all for it.
If you want comparison of the impact of an aging vet coming off winning a cup, look no further then Willie Mitchel. The value of these players are immense and in the right environment they can be the mentor that we need for our young D. |

I don`t think they can make the money work other wise, I guess we could just retain a big chunk. I think trading for Bickell is good because yes we ultimately should get more in return and we need to think long-term.
Let`s say we get TVR, Bickell and a 1st for VRBY and Hammer, that`s starting to look pretty sexy. |

Hammhuis is what he is, regardless of winning a cup. I was always a Willie M fan - shut down specialist, leader - though I understood not signing him with the concussion.
Never felt the same way about Hammer and don't see it as a good comparison myself. Good 3/4 defenseman, but I always felt he was over-rated. Never a lot points and not the strongest shut down guy...the series winning goal against LA is always what defined him for me. I like Tanev better as our shut-down D.
That said, D is the teams biggest need IMHO...Hammer would be a hell of a lot better than a lot of what's out there...or in the current team's system.

Probably to counter balance the fact that CHI would take 9.5 mil off our hands if they took both Vrbata and Hammer. We don't retain any of Vrbatas or hammers salary but gain Bickells. It would be worth it to take Bickell back if they gave up TT. |

That deal would be bananas. No way that Chicago goes for it, IMHO - but if they did sign me up. I think you're more likely to see Hamhuis for a second and Vrbata for a low pick...like a 5th. Maybe a struggling prospect if you're lucky. |

I agree it's a little nuts, but they really need Bickell off the books (3 more years?!), as crazy as that trade is for 2 rentals. |
