That deal would be bananas. No way that Chicago goes for it, IMHO - but if they did sign me up. I think you're more likely to see Hamhuis for a second and Vrbata for a low pick...like a 5th. Maybe a struggling prospect if you're lucky. - Ronning4ever
That deal is a little nuts but not too far off. Hammer gets you 2 seconds and a low prospect and Vrby gets you a 4th PLUS Bickell to offset salary.... |

I agree it's a little nuts, but they really need Bickell off the books (3 more years?!), as crazy as that trade is for 2 rentals. - neem55
Bickel is signed for only 1 more year at 4.5. As much as I don't like Bickel, I still think at 4.5 cap he is an upgrade on Burrows. |

Word is it's Ville Pokka and a 1st and the only hold up is the haggling over the amount of salary the Canucks retain for this year |

We can afford it, especially if it means another pick/prospect. I didn't realize it was only next year too even better. Chicago needs that 3 mill off the books for next year too. |

I really wouldnt have an issue taking Bickel. He has a great chance to play up and down the lineup and then can be another rental for next year if he plays well. He's one of those guys with the "playoff" label, so I'd be willing to bet someone would take him for a late round pick for next season's push |

@imacVanSun Someone explain that to Vrbata. #Canucks

Agreeeeeeed.
Pokka would be the first blue-chipish D-prospect this team has had in a very very long time. |

If we take Bickel Chi takes that 4mil cap off their books for next year. Hammer is UFA. If I am JB I would try and move Borrows and get Bickel. As much as Burrows had been good to us his play of late has been declining. Bickel is no offensive juggenaut either but he hit and plays for his guys on the ice. He had over 100 hits in every season. Burr has come close only once in 2010. And Bickel is 5 years younger. |

Reality: the deal isn't nuts for the Canucks. There's no way that you get Chicago to part with a first and a prospect for a rental D that put up 5 points and a rental shot machine that's a -32, even if we take a contract back.
Benning tried to offload Shinkrauk (for reasons unknown) for a D-prospect and hit a wall. The market for Hamhuis is likely the same for Bieksa - 2nd rounder.
You might be able to get more with a bidding war, but Hammer holds a NTC - his list of teams is going to be limited. |

Hamhuis: I don't know if there's any specific list. If it means leaving, obviously you're going to a contender.

reality: Hamhuis has never been valued for his point production and Vrbata has scored 20 or more 4 times, 30 last year. |

Oh...no doubt he'll get traded with a comment like that - Chicago or Washington maybe? But I would be shocked if Chicago gives up a #1st and Dman prospect...2nd rounder more likely...even that would even be a steal.
