How has Hamhuis looked this season?
I know his offense is down (not that he put up big numbers offensively) and he's getting less ice time this season. Is he sound defensively? Does he have (some) speed? Is he more of a bottom pairing d-man these days or can he still get top-4 minutes and produce well on a contender? - TommyHawk

Not necessarily. But I'd imagine that the Roman Polak deal (most recent example) is a good comparison. Sure the Leafs got two second round picks, but Polak is four years younger, producing a bit more offensively, and has more value with a cheaper contract. Not to mention that Spaling is an okay bottom-six player.
If the 'Hawks were to trade for Hamhuis and a player like Vey, I'm sure it would be for an eerily similar return.
But what if it was JUST Hamhuis, is a prospect and 3rd/4th round pick different than just a second? - TommyHawk
Are you saying Polak is better than Hamhuis?
I must have missed him on Poland's Olympic team when Hamhuis was playing for Canada. |

Button is nuts. But he's not that far off with his assessment. - we_are_all_canucks
maybe I am missing something? Sven's play has improved from the start of the season and he went from a C- to a C... Bo's play has improved over the course of the season and he wend from a C- to a D...
Yeah, I don't understand what I am seeing... |

Good luck without Hamhuis then, I'd rather trade him to Wash or Dallas. - A_SteamingLombardi
Here come the Hawks fans with their garbage offers...
If it's Hamhuis and Vrbata going, the Canucks will get a d prospect, forward prospect and a 1st round pick. |

For sure he's not completely correct. But perhaps we tend to overvalue our players? Sven has done okay and gotten better, but on any contending team he would be a third liner at best. Bo has gotten better since the start of the season, but should be third line as well. A lot of that was Sutter being injured most of the year, but no complaints, Bo is money in the bank. |

Though you've never seen it, he can play LW - Retinalz
When he plays as a forward on the first power play unit he is always on the left side. Doesn't line up there, but that's where he ends up in the attacking zone. |

I think Hamhuis alone gets you a 1st + prospect. Vrbata either a 2nd or prospect.
Sounds like Stars, Kings and Hawks are all in. To compare to our real estate market, the winning bid will need to be an Asian buyer coming in $500,000 over asking. |

Bo and Sven are playing on the 3rd line. The Canucks just don't happen to have a 2nd line at the moment. |

I won't complain if it's that. I will complain if we don't get a 1st round pick and defenseman prospect. I will complain if Benning includes a draft pick with Hamhuis or Vrbata. |

What if it's Hamhuis and a 2nd for Pokka and TT? No picks despite what the return is? |

I think Buttons screwed up his ratings, at least for Bo, he was in the legendary sophomore slump and wasn't contributing any offense. He had a point streak and much better production, after Christmas or later in January, I am too lazy to look, but by Buttons rating, he must think Bo has gotten worse as the season progressed...
I wonder what Buttons expected from Bo?
Sorry, I have spent too long on something as silly as this. |

I won't be happy with that.
Reports are it's not a roster player from the Hawks. |

Hamhuis and Button are losing steam.
How about Chris Higgins to Nashville for Cody Hodgson?
Then flip Cody Hodgson + Bartkowski’s Mom to Toronto for a fifth round pick. He’s a local Ontario kid and with the new change in circumstances he should finally be able to live up to his fantastic potential. She’d be a media darling and her positivity would help distract the center of the universe from the team's poor record.
Naturally we'd have to keep some salary on Higgins plus Hodgson’s Dad, but only until the end of the season when Bartkowski becomes a UFA. As part of the deal we also retain the rights to a percentage of profits on any potential donut franchise Beth may get involved in. Doable?

@botchford @provincesports Perfect timing. Season ticket renewal notices just sent out.
(This was part of the tweet) Time to make a splash, I think last season, or was it the one before when they delayed sending out the renewal notices? |
