Hi Bill- You are close to the team, would you be able to check Hexy for a pulse? We have lacked secondary scoring and penalty killers for 2 years and he has done absolutely nothing to address these issues. I don't give an F about the long view when my team is on the playoff bubble, you don't have to give up the farm for the issues I mentioned. Also Scotty is literally scoring 20 times as much as the versatile Umberger. |

I think Streit gets moved. There is interest. If they could retain salary it might have already happened. May involve taking a contract back, not sure.
Dallas waiting on Hamhuis, but if that falls through? - Marc D
I think he should be moved and because he is productive, I think the other team should take his entire cap hit. Should we retain anything for an entire season, just a mill at the most. |

We can't retain any salary on any players until July 1st. We'll be able to do it on up to 3 contracts again with Luke and Grossman as FA's and Vinny retired. |

I feel moving Hartnell had more to do with Berube than Hextall but I also felt Berube was a moron but that's just me. I think a GM has take go by his own gut feeling. Vandevelde while not awful is far from perfect and only seems to have a spot on the team because of Hakstol. Chris Porter clearly out played Vandevelde during camp and yet we waived porter instead. Also Brandon Manning has no place here but it seems to be the Coach's call. |

Good because we shouldn't. Streit has one year left and he's picking up steam. |

I like Drouin, but its not impossible that a top 5 pick may just be an average professional hockey player. I know Sam Gagner wasn't drafted in the top 5, but he put up some really impressive stats in London playing along side Kane.
I don't think the return for Drouin isn't going to be that great for the Bolts. Yzerman has zero leverage, the longer this drags on with Drouin, his value continues to decrease. |

Flyers are in the Drouin sweepstakes
"St. Louis Blues, Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers are among the teams still very much interested in Drouin"

Because that's legit and all haha. That's like Eklund reporting that. |

Don't want Drouin. Highly talented and he might have a good NHL career (or may not, who knows) but I don't want a kid with a POS attitude on this team. |

I haven't been this enamored with a prospect since i don't know when. I <3 Provorov he's going to anchor our blue line for a very long time and going to keep it among the best in the league.
I'm more excited about this last draft with Provorov and Konecny than I was in 2003 with Richards and Carter. |

We might but I don't think you can top that haul from last year. I know it's still early but we might have gotten ourselves an impact top 6 forward/possibly top line and a franchise dman.
All we need now is a high upside center to hopefully push Couturier down to 3C and another scoring winger. |

False. Coots is fine and is going to get high ice time due to his defense |

I wonder with all the D prospects if in 4 -5 years we will be like Anaheim.
You read that they have to get rid of one of Vatanen, Lindholm or Fowler this summer because they can't afford to keep all three! |

He's fine but I'd rather get another, more productive offensive center to push him down. Don't like it? Tough mister. |

If Couts ends up as the long term #2C they will need an upgrade at the #3C position.
I do like Cousins, guy is positionally sound and a smart player. He could be a very good #4 or maybe even a #3 with better skating. I guess it's too soon to tell.
Laughton and him seem to have some chemistry. |

What I want to see is us get a more skilled offensive center man and roll 3 lines that can score with Couts anchoring the 3rd, ideally being more of the two way line that also takes on more d responsibilities. Kind of how we rolled 3 lines circa 2008-2009.
Nothing wrong with Couts being 3C in that case. He'll still get plenty of ice time. |

Couts is going to get plenty of ice time. He is the guy defensively for them.
I think his offense is just starting to develop. If they can find a high end #2C it would be great. In the meanwhile Couts will be getting the ice.
Not sure what your time frame is. Are you thinking draft and develop a #2 C which would be for 3-4 years from now, or trade for one in the next 2 years. |

Ideally draft and develop one. Meanwhile, Couts is 2C and then by the time our D are all ready to go for us and are a bit more polished at the NHL level, we ideally have that 2C to roll out and push Couts down a line. |

Yeah and Hextall's approach is to build the team's foundation with a good D core and down the middle. I know I read this somewhere so I imagine he wants to have a strong 1-2-3 punch down the middle at some point. |
