I just hope we can publicly shame all those posters that stuck up for the RJ/Hartnell trade when it happened. Garbage. - coffee junkie
I have long since acknowledged I thought it would be better than it was, but yikes -- the GM made the deal and Columbus hasn't made the playoffs, just like the Flyers haven't
The Flyers lost the trade. But it's not like Columbus is all that thrilled with where they are |

Based on Hexy's trade demands for Raffl, he isn't being traded short of a slam dunk deal. And I think trading Read for a 4th isn't good value -- he adds more to the team as is than getting back a meh 4th. Now, Gagner for a 4th? Sure. Maybe he can put the screws to someone and get a 3rd with how good he has looked.
Streit finally looks back to usual. If someone offers a 1st, sure. But I'm not opposed to keeping him until next deadline if the market isn't quite there. My fears of a rapid drop off have diminished with his health concerns, and his contract looks better one year from now. Schultz? For sure. But I think Hexy/Hak view him as a "structure" guy they want to keep. Medvedev should be shopped for a 3rd. Other than that, maybe a surprise is in store. - Mononoke
Agreed on all fronts. I like Hexy's high trade demands for Raffl. No need to trade him and he is worth more to the team then a draft pick unless it is very high. He had an excellent year last year followed by a down year this year, he could bounce back just as much as stay the same or regress. It is hard to say what we have in Raffle, I think it is too early to tell. |

Nak, Konecny, and Lindblom all can play and have played LW. Laughton is now a LW. Schenn can play LW if need be. So can Jake. All of those players are firmly top 6 or have potential to be. I think Flyers LW concerns are a tad overblown. Don't think they need to go fishing for a questionable overpay for a good top 6 LW. |

I'd probably trade him for what Hudler got the flames. But that's just me. |

Neither Laughton nor any of those prospects have shown they can be legit top 6 wingers yet. So, I don't think its an overblown concern by any means.
Konecny most likely will but the others are wildcards. |

Thank you for outing yourself, very honorable.
I could care less how CLB is doing- it is irrelevant to the terrible trade which was bad at the time and, not to count eggs before they hatch, but tonight we might just get to see how bad it was. |

I think he's saying the need for a wing, in particular, is overblown |

All prospects are suspects until they get the job done -- I don't mind waiting for them to develop, but it's a fallacy to say that just because you have prospects means everything is fine
Laughton has had a nice stretch, and hopefully it continues. Schenn on the LW has had mixed results, at best. But none of those other players have even sniffed the AHL yet. We can agree to disagree, but who's to say a questionable overpay is a bad thing if it solves a problem?

Now Nick Ritchie out of Anaheim?! That is a player I would have strong interest in and a team that could use some pieces we have to move this deadline. |

No i understand that. But as of now we can certainly stand to upgrade our top 6 with more scoring. For now and the future. It's why most fans are clamoring for us to draft a guy with that kind of potential this summer. We need it as of now. |

That's how I read it. If Jake can continue to play the left side it really fills a big void. |

What does everyone think of Boedkker. He looked good and dangerous all day. I know Hexy isnt gonna add, but I was just wondering what the overall view of his game and if anyone thinks there's a fit. I honestly dont know enough about him to say.... |

Not just you -- Raffl has some value, but come on. If you are scared to move Michael Raffl because you don't think you can draft him or sign someone like him in free agency, you might not have the heart to be a GM of a winner

I think their top 6 is actually pretty good. G, Jake, Simmonds, Couturier, Schenn and Read/Raffl is pretty good. I think their big drop-off is after the top 6. |

Who's to say it would even be an overpay? If we dangled one of our d prospects+ for a young up-and-coming guy who has already proven something in the league, I don't consider that an overpayment. I know people like to get hung up on potential and each teams' fan bases tend to overrate/have a death grip on their own prospects..and i get it, you'd ideally love to see how they pan out, but give me more of the sure thing if it solves a long term need. |

Exactly. I think the LW/RW thing is a bit overblown. It just takes time for most guys to adjust. Voracek's production has been pretty consistent since the switch.
Tbh, I always thought he'd be more comfortable on that side because he likes to carry the puck in and see the ice. Guys who feel more comfortable on their off wing are usually shooters like Ovechkin and Neal. |

Either wing, the same rings true to me. We need more goal scoring in the top 6. |

Important thing though is getting a player in here that can bump read/raffl down to line 3 not only makes the top 6 better, but also the top 9. Goes from a great, good, and meh line to a great line and 2 good ones. That's huge.
EDIT: Not advocating trading for one. In fact, I'd like to see what NAK/Konecny can do to the top 9 first |

Philadelphia Flyers are within $250K on Raffl. (Asking price on him is two second round picks.)
Travis is either bringing fire today or about to embarrass himself |

I love the job Hexy has done, but I completely agree with you. Only thing I could think of is that the FLyers are "in the playoff hunt", where the Flames are done, so its easier to explain trades to ownership and fan base when your so far out of it... just playing devils advocate |
