I would like to add to the forwards, but I've always thought the scoring problems stemmed more from their inability to move the puck on the backend. Since Ghost has joined the team, the Flyers have been scoring at a pretty good rate at even strength. Their PP has also improved. - PhillySportsGuy
This. D men who can pass tape to tape in stride, skate it up themselves, and not panic when they get the puck in the o zone goes a looooong way. |

Bacardi oakheart might be my favorite liquor. Makes THE BEST rum and cokes. So tasty.
Gin and tonic...rum and coke...insomnia cookies...all on deck for tonight. - Giroux_Is_God

Justin Schultz, as brutal as he has been for the better part of two seasons, got a third
You gotta be able to get something comparable for Nick Schultz or the Russian |

Absolutely, there is something to that. A lot to it. They looked like a different team at ES when Ghost came up - AllInForFlyers
Flyers w/ Ghost (45 games)
2.6 goals/g (14th in NHL)
Flyers w/o Ghost (16 games)
1.8 goals/g (29th in NHL)
Obviously, this isn't all Ghost. Jake got off to a terrible start, but it's hard to dismiss his impact on the scoring. |

I don't. We all saw how they have been for the last three years at ES
Schenn has been more consistent, and losing Grossmann and MacDonald helped in certain ways
But Ghost is the biggest change to this team since Giroux came up |

Exactly. Now add Provorov and Konecny to the mix and I think you'll see even more offense |

I don't think Read is worth his contract, but he's a very good hockey player, if not a point producer right now. He used to put up 2nd line points in 3rd line minutes. Now he posts 3rd line points in 3rd line minutes...but he plays good 3 zone hockey. His minutes and points aren't the empty variety. My point was that his value to the team, even with a little inflated contract, is worth more than a low pick that equates to a salary dump. - Mononoke
If you think he is a very good hockey player, then his contract shouldn't be considered inflated. Very good hockey players get paid well no? |

I made a distinction between playing good hockey and scoring points. Don't have to be one in the same. Sam Gagner for most of his career has scored points while playing mediocre hockey all around. Raffl plays good two way hockey. Doesn't mean he scores 60 points. Matt Read is a good 3 zone player who does all the little things right and has been a great boon for his linemates. He's being paid to score more though, so yes he's a tick overpaid at $3.6mil. It's just the business that players are paid based on scoring. His contract isn't something I really worry about, however. |

Do very good hockey players get paid accordingly for the most part? yes or no |
