I care not one bit about that tournament but I don't see why he wouldn't get picked. |

His son is married to Stacey Goldsborough, Main Line native and alum of Friends Central School on City Line Ave...she's current CEO and co-chair of Dreamworks. So there's some business acumen there. |

[quote=SuperSchennBros]Wayne Simmonds needs 7 goals in 20 games to achieve the 30 goal mark.
Brayden Schenn needs 9 goals in 20 games to achieve the 30 goal mark.
With Voracek now out for two weeks Schenn will be playing with Giroux and that line looked very good last night, so I think they both have a great chance to score 30. Especially how well Giroux is playing right now.

Pass on Stamkos and Lucic - PhillySportsGuy
Passing on Stamkos in my opinion is insane. Giroux is 2 years older and getting older. We're lucky he's been as healthy as he has been. Last, we could use a pure sniper. |

Ideal situation is finish the year strong, mid round 1st pick, and we trade Streit half retained with Read and our 1st + (?) to move up in the draft and sign Stamkos. |

I a all for Hextall's plan of draft and develop. Just feel it's that one tie a true elite player who is young hits FA. At 26 he can still be part of our future and he fills a huge need for a pure sniper. |

We'd never have to yell, "shoot" when Jake and G are on the ice bc they will just be setting Stammer up with gems to sink into the net |

Flyers can absolutely do better than White and VdV. It's laughable at this point. I'd rather the Zombie than either one of those 2. Bring Straka up. |

I would rather Leier, Martel, Bardreau or even McDonald for the 4th line. I don't think that is really a role Straka would thrive in. |

This. Stamkos would help tremendously given the Flyers lack of goal scoring this year. |

Here is my thinking.
The cap can't go down without adding another buyout or something. Too many teams would be screwed. If that happens the Flyers could buyout MacDnoald. The Flyers could also move Read and some vet dman to create additional room.
Even if the cap stays about the same you can actually use that as an advantage because it would probably leave less teams trying to add him. Toronto will try but does he waste prime years in a full rebuild. Other teams would have to move major money to fit him.
To get a 26 year old superstar I would take the hard hit on the cap now and the go from there. after next season Umberger is up. Streit is up. I think it makes a perfect time to try and put stamkos on the roster. |

Its lunacy, and exactly the sort of lunacy that has gotten the Flyers into the kind of cap trouble that they are just coming out of, to pay Stamkos market rate and term in his 1st UFA year.
Hopefully, (and I see no reason to not be hopeful here) Hextall and Co. will pass on Stamkos and continue their current course.
One might think that Stamkos in a FA year would be putting up tremendous numbers, having perhaps his best year ever. He's not. |

Stamkos is overrated. He's not worth $10M IMHO. That's why Yzerman hasn't given him the money. He's watched more Stamkos games than any of us, but he refuses to pay him the same as Toews, Kane and Kopitar because he's not as good as those guys.
For $10M, you better be getting a guy who can do everything and absolutely dominate games because you aren't going to be able to put great pieces around him. He's going to need to be able to carry his line and make them good. Stamkos doesn't do that. He needs guys around him. |

For $10M, the Flyers could get a top 6 forward and top 4 defenseman and likely still have money left over. |

This. How many of the kids can you re-sign for $10M too. 3? 4? 5? |
