Schenn-Giroux-Simmonds

Gagne-Forsberg-Knuble

Tonight was a huge game for Simmonds and Schenn if they're both planning on scoring 30 each this season.

I hope Mr. snider is doing well. I didn't know till last night he had health complications.

Great to see them come out and play well. Awesome for schenn to get his first hatty.

I think I am starting to like this team. I know they have their flaws but Hakstol seems to have instilled a work hard mentality.

Also Schenn is really starting to turn me. Also helping his cause for a new contract.

I suspected something considering he's barely been in the spotlight lately. He used to show his face around a little more

Quotes not working on my phone, but I agree about Hakstol really getting team together and starting to form an identity. He has his team and the players respect. Loving the hiring. We looked good last night and Schenn was on fire. Really is a shame MDZ and Jake are out bc they could help out with this playoff spot run

I wonder why it took this long for Jim to make it into the Flyers Hall of Fame. A bunch of other players who played well after him have already been inducted. The timing is a bit perplexing. I can only assume that since Ed is battling cancer, he wants to make sure a few things happen before he goes. Just look at how many players were inducted this year, way more than any other. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't get a good feeling about Ed's health. Regardless, Jim is in, finally.

I have heard that Snider is dealing with cancer treatment. He's been in California, where he actually resides, and hasn't made many-if any-trips to Philly during this season. It's been discussed and mentioned a little bit before Jim Watson's speech last night, but it really made a lot of folks take notice. Given Snider's age, any major illness is obviously cause for concern.

We all have to be grateful for the gift that Ed Snider gave us 50 years ago. For all his faults, they are faults born out of a desire to win. He not only gave us the Flyers, he gave us a family. The foundation he laid, the organization he built and maintained, despite the Cup drought, has been as close to a gold standard as exists in sports.

Snider built the team, his own buildings, a fanbase and grew the sport in the Delaware Valley. His fingerprints are all over everything the organization has done over the past 5 decades. Hopefully he gets through his current issues and gets to see a third Flyers Stanley Cup

“He got a lower body injury. I’ll never substantiate or answer those questions because I don’t want you guys to know or I’d just come right out and tell ya. That’s not you guys. That’s the other team. I don’t want the enemy to know.”

God bless you, Ron Hextall.

I may be mistaken but didn't he use his own money to build the wells fargo center? Unlike how others take taxpaymer money from the city? Guy puts more money into projects then a lot of other owners I know.

Actually it's almost a 2 per season thing for the past few years. Lindros, LeClair and Desjardins going in the one season was very fitting. The ceremony last night was done with typical Flyers class. This team really knows how to do those things. The retirement nights seem to be more prevalent.

Gaudreau was insane to see play live. That little guy would get lost in the maze of the bodies and then pop out and have a great chance or make a sick pass. Kid is just good.

Schenn was on fire last night he seemed to be everywhere. If he can get that game consistently we got ourselves the threat that was expected in the Richards deal.

Read, Laughts and Cousins looked good. I wonder what Cousins says after the whistles sometimes because it's funny to watch the opposing team player just turn and go at him.

Footnote: THEY WON when I was in the building this season!

Snider and the Flyers secured private financing to build the Spectrum and the Wells Fargo Center. He's a rarity among sports owners.

Pens next two games at Washington, home vs. Rags

Flyers next two games home to Edmonton, and Columbus.

Might be a chance to make up some ground!

Great post Jsaq. As my dad is a Brooklyn transplant, without Mr. Snider, I'd probably be a Rangers fan. *shudder*

A little aside on the Flyers penalty killing difficulties this season.

I think some folks are giving Lappy a bad rap for their struggles on the PK this year. To me, the PK and protecting a lead at the end of a game is where their lack of quality top pair Dmen stands out. There is absolutely nothing that any coach can do that is going to turn Michael Del Zotto into the savvy defensive warrior that Kimmo Timonen was. Nor is a coach going to magically grant Nick Schultz or Gudas the strong skating stride and huge reach of a Braydon Coburn. Until the D corps improves, they will continue to struggle on the PK and when protecting a lead at the end of the game. When you are down a man, and you're matching up against the other teams best players with the likes of Mark Streit, Radko Gudas, Nick Schultz and/or AMac, you are going to struggle.

Ian Laperriere was an excellent penalty killer for a long time in this league. I'm pretty sure he knows what it takes to kill penalties at the NHL level, I mean come on, it's not rocket science. He just doesn't have the horses on D to be consistently successful at it.

Maybe I missed it in the past but god forbid what happens if Mr. Snider passes. Does he have children who would then run the team? Maybe Bill can shed some light. I don't know his family tree or what would happen.

For sure. They can't worry about the other teams, they just have to keep winning. They face the Pens 3 more times, so it's really in their hands.

That's a good question. He has both a son and a daughter, however he actually only owns a minority stake in the team. The majority owner is Comcast. With that in mind, who knows what will happen when Mr. Snider is no longer around.

Quick aside: I loved how Jimmy Watson referred to him as "Eddie" last night. I was starting to think it was a team rule that all current and former players must refer to him as Mr. Snider or else!

Yes sir! Exactly. If they get 4 points in the next two games, they really have some momentum.

Really like how the team is playing and how Neuvy just keeps on rolling here. It's so hard to make up ground in the playoff race unless a team just tanks it. Unfortunately, I think it's going to be hard to catch Boston, Det or Pitt.
