After next year the Streit and Umberger come off the books. That's about 9 million on cap hit.
The cap could go the other way and make even more room.
I don't think it is as far fetched to see the Flyers explore Stamkos as people think. - J35Bacher
Also, who says he gets $10 mil? Can they do $8 per year but front load the cap hit? (Not sure how those rules work). I don't think it's crazy to explore it, I just don't want to become the Pens and lose our ability to build depth because all of out money is tied up in 3 players. |

This is pretty much what would happen except Malkin, Crosby and Letang are a better group than Giroux, Voracek and Stamkos |

Boston’s Zac Rinaldo suspended five games for an illegal check to the head of Tampa Bay’s Cedric Paquette. Video: http://ow.ly/YWhXW - PLindbergh31
I think I just read a piece somewhere that mentioned that Rinaldo had gone 51 games without a suspension.
Guess they need to reset that calendar. |

There is an article on philly.com about the new look top line in voraceks absence. Didn't those three play together a couple games before g and Voracek got hurt? |

I have heard that Snider is dealing with cancer treatment. He's been in California, where he actually resides, and hasn't made many-if any-trips to Philly during this season. It's been discussed and mentioned a little bit before Jim Watson's speech last night, but it really made a lot of folks take notice. Given Snider's age, any major illness is obviously cause for concern.
We all have to be grateful for the gift that Ed Snider gave us 50 years ago. For all his faults, they are faults born out of a desire to win. He not only gave us the Flyers, he gave us a family. The foundation he laid, the organization he built and maintained, despite the Cup drought, has been as close to a gold standard as exists in sports.
Snider built the team, his own buildings, a fanbase and grew the sport in the Delaware Valley. His fingerprints are all over everything the organization has done over the past 5 decades. Hopefully he gets through his current issues and gets to see a third Flyers Stanley Cup - Jsaquella
and even more than just the Flyers, the Flyers charities including the Ed Snider Foundation. its been a privilege to work with Foundation over the years. its amazing what he has done for the city rinks many in which may have closed had he not stepped in. He has been an amazing owner and while the Flyers have not won in 40 years I do believe since expansion they are the third highest winning team.

I just don't think Stamkos is great. If I felt he could come in and put them over the top, I would be more enthusiastic.
What do people think Eric Staal is going to get on the open Market? |

Not sure, but I look forward to the Rangers overpaying him. |

And they have seriously underachieved. With Fluery, aside when he's scoring on himself, they should have won a second and maybe a third cup with that roster. |

Not sure, but it's going to be interesting which former captain / current captain signs first. Would have to think one will impact the other and players will use it as reflection for their deal. Staal, Backes, Ladd. Stamkos obviously gets more than all 3 of them. |

I have a feeling he might try for #9. Seems like it's his preferred number.
Yes I'm awaiting his first full year as a regular so as to get it made properly. I doubt the #79 from this preseason sticks. |

I've criticized Brayden Schenn as much as anyone, so if this does go down, I need to know what side dish goes well with crow. |

I don't either but salaries are still escalating despite the cap situation. If he turns it on in NY someone could throw 8 his way for 4 years. I think it would be foolish but I could see it happen.
If he continues as is it could be 4-6. |

Jim Watson's speech last night was so on point about everything Mr Snider has meant to this area. Not just as a team owner. I think a lot of new fans needed to hear what was in that speech to realize what he has done for hockey outside the Flyers. |
