I disagree. Zubrus had like 9 points... Elias is the franchises best offensive player, and if he wants to play next yr, I think there'd be plenty of room on this offense. I get that he's not the 70 point guy he was capable of being, but to put him in a class with Zubrus bro? That's low.

Sign him to a 1 mill deal, 3rd line role but mostly PP time. He still got the hands and the smarts for PP, just not the body for 17 min a game. I hope he does ride off into sunset, his body has been telling him he just ignoring that poop.

I'd bet infinity internet dollars that Matteau is out of the league in a year or two. DSP likely too, but we didn't lose this trade at all.

How is comparing him to Zubrus low? Elias is the franchises best forward, but like Zubrus, has had the same thing happen to him. Zubrus was a guy that had good numbers over most years for us, not like Elias, but he could be relied upon to be a solid player. Then age caught up with him. And Elias is in the same spot.

Elias has had 2 big injuries this year, while only playing 13 games, 5 points. Age has caught up.

And don't you think that would be trying to win his 3rd cup? I don't see it happening on the Devils next year.

It is not mandatory to win a cup to be able ride off into the sunset.

A pick between 6-8 is really not that far fetched to think about now. The remaining schedule we have left is atrocious. It's certainly do-able.

No chance the Devils out tank the Leafs, Oilers, Sabres, Flames, Canucks, Habs and Arizona. Schneider by himself is too good. Devils bound to get a couple of lucky bounces.

So, I don't get why some people don't even want Elias on the team.. There's plenty of room in the top 9, and with the leagues worst offense, he'd be nothing but an upgrade.
As far as next yr goes, if he wants to come back for another yr, what would be the problem? He'd still be an upgrade over guys like Kennedy on the third line.
I get this is a rebuild, and you need young players to play to develope. But, you don't just throw em to the wolves when you could have a proven vet like Elias in your top 9 instead.
Plus, he's been my favorite player since he came into the league, so I get offended lol.

He's not a checking forward, he would be eaten alive playing in the bottom six.

If this were nhl16 then sure that would be fine.

Well the Wild, Sens and Habs are all for sure passing us. The Nucks also have 3 games in hand on us. I don't see Cory getting 95% of the workload left by any means either. Let Kinkaid get some more work in. It's possible the Avs or Nucks get by us. Our schedule is rather rough. We can't beat Toronto or Columbus so, it could happen.

I wouldn't count out the Canucks on passing us. A number 9-10 pick could probably land is Logan Brown or Kiefer Bellows and I'm certainly good with that. Although #6 should have gotten us Ivan Provorov so this year we will probably grab Chychrun and he will disappoint, doomed, bust, status quo, etc.

Bellows please!

Seriously though, @ NSH, @ DAL, vs PIT, @ SJ, @ LA, @ ANA. Out of those six, on paper and in gut, there isn't a win anywhere in our next six games unless one of those clubs take a real good dose of Nyquil before game time.

Oh yeah, with our schedule, Corys workload and our inability to score goals I'm definitely not ruling out a top 10 pick.

I can't see it not happening. I see five games on paper we have an actual chance in, the back to back against Columbus (who have our number), Minnesota, Buffalo and Toronto. Can't even say I feel sure we win 3 of those 5. Further we fall, it's going to be a wonderful draft day.

Idk about Logan Brown. He's got NHL size. But he's slipped in his rankings. Highest I've seen him now is at 12. Highest Bellows is ranked is 15. It's not much of a reach for the Devils if they are at 10, but at 6 or 7 it might be.

The Devils can fall to 9. I don't see other teams that are 7 points behind catching us. Clayton Keller, Bellows, Michael Mcleod, Brown, Luke Kunin are the guys in that order I'd be interested in at the draft.
