Murray will retire this year and give the team to Dorion/ Richardson/ Lee.
So the question is - is Murrays greatest accomplishment in his 35 years in hockey drafting Erik Karlsson? I say yes it is.
What else could it be? His first round draft with Perry/Getzlaf - good players but not generational, not rewriting history like Erik is. He didn't win anything as a coach, he never built a winner as a GM. |

I suspect the HNIC coverage to be even worse that last week. Seriously considering boycotting the game on TV and just stream it from a random website (don't think viewership counts that way). If they don't get viewers, they would be forced to make changes. I honestly thought Rogers would put together a decent broadcast when they got the rights. I wasn't even put off by hiring Strombo. However, it's all gone to poop and has really ruined Saturday night hockey. The Leaf pumping is bad. It's even worse when terrible broadcasters are doing it. Even when they discuss other NHL things it's just weird, over the top, or not applicable to anything. How Elliot Freidman sits/semi stands at that desk is beyond me. |

You Sens fans are delusional. The Leafs get criticized by HNIC more than anyone.

I don't care about standings and draft choices. Losing to the Leafs is always angering. |

The actual broadcasts of the game are ok. It's the in studio stuff that's absolute garbage. You must not have watched last weeks broadcast. You would have thought the Leafs are leading the league and have the best prospects in the entire NHL. It was just comical. Leafs stuff aside, the "experts" are jokes. It's embarrassing that they aren't drunk or high. They have no business discussing hockey, let alone at a national scale (excluding Freidman of course). Possibly the worse live sports production available today. |

The Leafs are very close to indeed having the best prospects in the NHL. Without a doubt by the end of the June draft they'll have the #1 prospect pool. |

But what you said to support your argument about the broadcast crew going on about the leafs having the best prospects in the league.... Well, they might be onto something with that one. I miss old Cbc broadcasts and tsn too, but hard to be angry at sportsnet crew for speaking he truth. |

Decent set of prospects, yes, but it was the way they were portraying them. Showing their "great plays" from the last few games, while the score in the corner is 4-1 for the opposing team.
They pump the Leafs because it's basically 3/4 of their viewership. I get it. It's just frustrating to see them talk about them like they are playing well this year. They are in the running for Matthews for a reason.
But again, it's just not the Leafs stuff. The hockey conversations in general are a joke. The reporting is a joke. The playing with hockey sticks on a 3D rink is a joke. It's all effing bad. |

I can't argue with ya there really. Not a fan of it either. The on ice product is what really matters and they aren't lacking in that aspect. Players are bigger and faster than ever. Great to watch. |

It is frustrating. Seems like every decent player in the east has to get traded to the west in fear of playing them 3 times a year vs the 2 time they play the western teams. Seguin, spezza, Carter, and many more. Over time that just makes two different leagues in terms of skill. |

Not sure why its so funny.. Its really the only thing going for them - ClarksonDavid
They have 2-3 good prospects......but #1 system, not even close.
I'd easily take the young guys from Edm, buff, fla, phx, wpg over the leafs.......maybe a couple of others also.
Toronto is certainly heading in the right direction, but they have a long way to go to catch up to the systems some of those teams have built |

The teams you listed have good young guys in the line up.. he more than likely meant guys not in the league yet.. |

So then nylader doesn't count for the leafs? You have marner and that's it?
A young guy is a young guy.
Does Toronto have better prospects cuz marner is still in London while McDavid and eichel are in the nhl? |
