Ottawa came close to acquiring him before he went to NYR. TM may still be a fan.

His comments about getting a veteran scoring winger from a cap strapped team like Dallas did with Sharp makes me think he's talking about Nash.

Im drawing the same conclusion but only because I cant think of anyone else that meets this criteria that isn't a free agent.

I love Girgensons getting a shot with Eichel and Reinhart. I think you always want a mix of playmaker (Reinhart), shooter (Eichel) and hustle (Girgensons). You have the same on O'Reilly's line.

In terms of future signings, I love Stamkos...who doesn't...but not at the price he's going to demand. I'm not big on Nash...he'll ask for more than he's worth. We're gonna land a top 9 pick...and in my estimation the top 9 are all going to be outstanding players. If we land a top 4...I don't think we need to do much up front next year. Another year for all of our current players will do wonders...for comparisons sake (and I know he had an MVP linemate in St. Louis...but just saying) Stamkos went from a rookie season of 23-23-46 in 79 games...to 51-44-95 in 82 games in year 2. Eichel is currently sitting at 22-26-48 in just 70...sure makes you think.

The guy I see if I can pry away from the Lightning is Drouin. He's a St. Louis-type player who I could see racking up the helpers alongside Jack. Plus he's not demanding $11 mill anytime soon...Don't forget, the year MacKinnon went #1...Drouin put up 30 more points (105) than MacKinnon (75) in only 5 more games. Same team.

Add Nash on the cheap, sign Stamkos trade the pick for Lindholm

Nash Eichel Stamkos
Kane ROR Reinhart

There's no way you could do both unless NYR retained a chunk or took moulson back.

Stamkos 11 mil
Nash 8 mil
Lindholm At least 4.5 (ditto Risto)

I think Nash would be plan B if you can't get a guy like Stamkos

Move Ennis and Franson you can make it work.

I don't think Moulson is going anywhere

That would work, I keep forgetting Ennis is on the team. Haven't seen him play in so long

He actually plays defense. Vanek did not
- sbroads24

Was that really most people's issue with Vanek?....what I heard most were complaints About consistent production.

To be honest, I'm OK with my teams top 1 or 2 offensive producers being more concerned about scoring. That is what they're paid to do, after all....obviously they can't be a liability in there own zone though.

If they retain 2.5-3 mil, that's a decent bargain for a few years.

Sometimes. He frustrated me because of the consistency you mentioned.

I have never seen someone look so lost for 10 games, then look like a superstar the following 10

You'd have to up the offer if that's the case. Still the issue of getting him to waive the NTC.

Ok now you have something there
Just get Stamer in here for under $10. $9.5m is better.

Has he ever played with a center like Eichel before?

I think you could get him to waive

Never gonna happen.

That man is gonna get paid...

But if you move out Ennis and Franson you could make it fit.

Nash only has 2 years left on his deal so it wouldn't hinder new contracts for Eichel and Reinhart.

It would be a huge bonus if you can get Moulson out of here...

Hell just get them to hold 1MM of it and its still a decent cap hit for his production.

He went from living in Columbus to living NYC. Might not be as easy to convince him.

You are correct . It had zero to do with him playing defense and everything about being the highest paid Sabre and not scoring 3 goals per night. Buffalo is not an easy town to play in once the fans turn on you... not to mention the media.

Yup, with Those two in your top 6, there isn't room for Ennis.
Trade him.
draft Chychurn (sp).
Then go offer sheet the best young L-D RFA...it won't hurt us too bad since our 2017 1st will be more like a 2nd anyways
