You are correct . It had zero to do with him playing defense and everything about being the highest paid Sabre and not scoring 3 goals per night. Buffalo is not an easy town to play in once the fans turn on you.
- fastek

That's not true. He was incredibly one dimensional.

His biggest issue was how pathetic he played when he wasn't scoring.

When he was on, he was on fire. When he was off, he was a tire fire

Yup, with Those two in your top 6, there isn't room for Ennis.
Trade him.
draft Chychurn (sp).
Then go offer sheet the best young L-D RFA...it won't hurt us too bad since our 2017 1st will be more like a 2nd anyways

- IonSabres

Wouldn't Ennis be included in the trade for Nash?

Just thinking. I don't know what you give up for him?

I'm not giving up a first for him. I'm not giving up any of the young players for him. But you are not going to get him for scraps either.

The only people that fit that bill are:
Nash
Parise
Kessel

Unless he is talking about trading the 2016 first for a guy like Schwartz. Which im not entirely opposed to.

I think they would move on from guys like Steen, Backes, or Berglund before they get rid of Schwartz

Agreed, Just very few players who fit the experienced winger on a cap strapped team.

Touché

As much as I post the warnings, I would love to see Stamer here...would be awesome to watch for years. Then then Invoice arrives 4 years later. Pegula needs to get the posie together..knockoff Moulson...then plan for same with Stamer . The demise of 2 due to a rather unfortunate set of circumstances.

Moulson 1.1 retained and a 5-6 for a pick. I don't care if it is a 5 or 6 coming back.

Does anyone know exactly how retained salaries work in regards to the players paycheck?

Doe he receive two checks, one from his current team and one from his former?

Or does the former team that is retaining salary simply pay that money directly to the new team?

Good move. He is a top 6 forward. I'd also put Moulson on waivers and keep him in the AHL for the rest of the season. Maybe he will come to play for next season.

You're not going to get Lindholm and still draft in the first round this year IMO.

Okposo brings the edge that we need and can out produce Steen. He's also like 5 years younger. Plus he won't cost any assets to bring in. Okposo is the guy who I'd bring in during the summer. 6 year maybe $40 millioN. Eriksson is also a good option and there are others in the trade world such as Hoffman, Schwartz etc. Or just make a huge offer sheet pitch for Gaudreau .

This may be true with respect to on-ice performance, but the vodka thing and the gambling prosecution showed that he was MULTI-dimensional in off-ice issues.

No ones giving up a top 10 pick for Lindholm. Unless that comes with Ritchie or Montour your thinking way to much of Lindholm.

How awesome would it be watching our talent walk away year after year?

How many centres do we actually need?
