It's before Eichel has to get paid, its Kane's contract year, it would be Girgensons contract year if he signs a 2 year bridge deal.

100% thinking the exact same. Eichel and Reinhart have 2 years of experience (and hopefully 1 year of playoff experience) and are still being paid nothing. I think that's when Kane and Toews won their first as well?

If your talking Nash, then no. I don't even think he's popped into GMTM's head.

Stamkos isn't plan A either IMO. I don't see why he would be. He's a center. We've already got Girgs, Eichel, Reinhart, ROR, Larsson and a little bit in Ennis. At some point we will have to get another top flight winger.

I think Murray tries to get Okposo or Eriksson. I think he'll make a pitch for Hoffman.

The goal is Stamkos 100% fact, everything after him is a big drop off. I mentioned before of uncle Brian returning a favor one day

I think there are a few plan B's after Stamkos not just Hoffman. GR mentioned Nash last week along with a few other wingers as well. I know Hoffman and Okposo was talked about before and Murray pushed to get Stone and Hoffman already.

Here's a thought, Defensemen who play 25-28 minutes a game sometimes make mistakes. I don't know of any d-man in the history of hockey that didn't give the puck away at some point or turn to cover the wrong man. It is the nature of the game. Sometimes the other player just wins.
I don't think Nash fits Murray's blueprint for the type of player he is looking to acquire, He has stated that he wants to get players that are 24-26 years of age that can grow with the type of team he is trying to put together.
First let me say that I don't think that Stamkos to TO is a sure thing, Why would anybody in their right mind want lose the kind of money it would take to be a Maple Leaf? Just the cost of living alone would give me pause to consider Buffalo as a viable destination if playing close to my hometown meant that much to me.
Don't get me wrong, if Stamkos were to end up here it sure would be fun to watch
but is the cost and term that it is going to take worth it in the long run? That is the question I grapple with.

You think so? Even with Ristolainen looking for big money this offseason? You also have to consider most of our good players on their ELC's minus ROR and Kane. We will put ourselves in cap hell with acquiring him.

Also have to take into account that Stamkos has said that he doesn't like nor plan to play wing.

Yes. After Kane was drafted, no playoffs the first year, conference finals the next, and then the cup.

But they had more pieces than Buffalo, IMO. Especially a top pair on D, and Hossa.

Yea I think so. I think they'd be able to make it work (obviously not easy though). Im not 100% its the right move and I don't think we'll land him but it sounds like they'll definitely try their hardest.
