Things get real interesting if the Habs win tomorrow ............I'm really liking how the Leafs are finally starting to actually win some games. Maybe there's hope for a top 3 or better pick yet.

Was button worse than milbury?

Well, he didn't go into the crowd and beat a guy with his own shoe; then steal said shoe, so he's got that going for him.

Did he even get suspended for that?
He's mellowed out a bit lately, but I still can't stand him
One of the worst, if not THE worst, hockey GMs in my lifetime
Are they still paying Yashin & DiPietro?

Interestingly Hockey prospects has CHYCHRUN ranked 9th and 3rd among defenceman. Conversely they have DUBOIS 4th over TKACHUK 5th
- bluengold12

There prob just trying to create some " noise." Chychrun started slowly this year but has been very strong for the last 2 months. 75% chance he's the first dman drafted. Dubois has bad a great season, and I'm not sold.on tkachuk, but I don't take Dubois ahead of tkachuk. I actually don't like that 4th pick but BUF chance of getting it are about zero. They either get lucky in the lottery and pick 1,2,3 or stay Pat and draft where they finish (prob around 6th or 7th) or slightly below, if they ge leapfrogged. So, if you're looking at prospects we all know whom are 1-2-3, concentrate on the 6-9 range. You'll find Dubois there, 3 LHDmen and a couple other wingers

You draft in the top 4 you take one of the forwards, 5th you take Chychrun, any pick after should be moved IMO. Mostly because there's a higher percentage that the player taken there are 2ish years away. The top 5 guys are or real close to NHL ready.

Was that really most people's issue with Vanek?....what I heard most were complaints About consistent production.

To be honest, I'm OK with my teams top 1 or 2 offensive producers being more concerned about scoring. That is what they're paid to do, after all....obviously they can't be a liability in there own zone though.

- nikel

DEFINITELY the consistency but also with me it wasn't so much that he didn't play D... it was that he didn't even try. You'd have 4 guys playing D in our zone and he'd be out at neutral ice, waving like "hey when you boys are done I'm up here" (slight hyperbole but you get the picture) and when they did get him the puck that sprint from center ice to opposing teams circles left him completely gassed and slowly skating back to the bench with that weird constipated look on his face

I said that a couple days ago actually
Now that I think about it though...
Would be hard to fit him & Stamkos

U less we could somehow get rid of Moulson's contract
Gionta might have to be moved as well, especially if we'd be adding a good defenseman not on an ELC

A top line of Hall-Eichel-Stamkos would be pretty mind blowing
Then we have Kane-O'Reilly-Reinhart
and with a 3rd line something like
Girgensons-Larsson-Ennis
-might not be able to keep Ennis though if we can't move Moulson & Gionta...
So then we're looking at possibly Foligno, Bailey or Fasching on the 3rd line

This should be a very interesting offseason for us

- jdfitz77

Sorry I should have mentioned that if we don't get Stamkos I would give a 1st for Hall. I agree we can't afford both.

I agree
And I wouldn't hate it if we end up with Chychrun
We might not be able to trade for Risto's partner, & he should be really good. Does need more development though. I don't think he's as NHL ready as Jones, Ekblad & Hanifin were.

Sad that there's been so much time since that dramatic/awesome OT win which was the last game.

It's possible...
We'd just have to get lucky that someone would bail us out of Moulson.
Gionta wouldn't be too hard to move. Neither would Ennis, but I think the return for him would be less than we like.
Maybe now that Franson is in his last year makes him tradable too?

Bottom line...
If we can add Stamkos, I love how our forwards look...
With or without a top3 pick

Trading for Risto's partner is what i think is gonna be hard

And I hope we don't go after Yandle, bc I don't think he's a "top pair" guy, and I don't like his age either

From a reddit thread after Eichel's OT goal the other day:

In the last 38 games, Jack has 34 points. In McDavid's last 34, he has 35. People will look at PPG and whatnot this season and think Jack is far off from McD, and while I think Mc has the upper hand, it isn't by much.

Hall would be a nice fall back option if we miss on Stamkos, I wouldn't think twice about trading our 1st this year ++ for him, as long as we don't pick first.

I agree on Yandle, I know they had interest but that was a while ago. I like that Elkholm from the Preds ? spelling might be wrong, is he LHD ? I forgot. I also would like to grab Jake Muzzin from the Kings

I think as they grow into it McDavids Goal number will rise but their PPG will always stay pretty close, I give edge to Jack in all around game though

I've seen u mention Muzzin before
Tough to imagine LA trading him.
Unless they actually think McNabb can be Doughty's partner full-time going forward? But even when they played together this year, Muzzin would take that spot late in games & during important PK situations.

Back when we were trading Vanek, I was hoping the Kings rumors were true & we could get Toffoli + Muzzin...
Probably wishful thinking though bc it appears LA was looking for them to fill important roles for them
