From the stats I saw (can't remember where), it showed the Flyers goalies save % in shootouts was actually around the league average, but the shooting percentage of Flyers attempts was abysmal and dead last by a wide margin. They're simply not getting it done! - aantny88
yep. it's on the shooters. |

you know when he puts on that flyers jersey, his first SO goal turns into him being impaled on his own stick as he tries to tuck that glove side, and the goalie makes a toe save. - hammarby31
That's what I thought.. The second he puts on a Flyers jersey and makes a shootout attempt, he'll step on the puck and fly headfirst into the boards. |

There's no reason that G, Jake, Schenn, Simmer, Read, Gagner can't get it done in a shootout. When our best attempt last night comes from a rookie, you realize it's a mental thing. - Hextall271
It's very much in their heads. But even very good shootout players miss 7/10. There's so little room for error as a team in the shootout.
I wish it was 5 shooters each everytime, if the SO won't go away entirely. That would take away some of the flukiness and would force greater depth in shooters. After 65 min, 3 shooters just seems even chintzier than the already chintzy skills competition. |

It's actually both. I think BSH did a writeup on it this year and both the shooters and goaltending have been horrible since its inception.
I feel like they must be unlucky too. Mason stops 4 straight shooters and they can't score once. In the next one, Mason will allow 3 goals and the Flyers will score 2.

i have noticed that trend as well. all or nothing. i'm still putting this on the shooters anyway. i'm not going to read that piece out of fear of it making me take a nasty spill down the stairs and subjecting myself to further school absences. you can reach my parents at their places of business. thank you for stopping by. |

Didn't the Devils lose 19 straight shootouts at one point a few years ago? Amazingly their record is much better overall in shootouts.
If you had to guess the year the Flyers become a lifetime .500 shootout team, what would your guess be? |

I don't know if it's just mental with Read. He's lost his goal scoring touch in general. He should have won it in OT. |

How is a goal allowed where the goalie was nearly jumping off the ice to blocker it away?
Oh well, over and done with. I'll be at the game on Saturday. Glad they're still fighting in March for this to be an important game. |

Bob was there for the save but shooting it two feet over the net is kind of embarrassing. |
