Yes, but is it fair to the bus drivers, concession workers, pilots, security, hotel workers, and hundreds of others. They make plans for it during the playoffs.
Nothing wrong with a tie. - MBFlyerfan
They should have ties up until football season ends...since that is when the casual fan they are meant to appease starts paying attention to hockey anyway |

http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-pros-and-cons-of-nhl-expansion/ - Feanor
Con: Expansion means talent dilution. For each new team you add, you’re essentially also adding 25 or so jobs for players who aren’t good enough to play in the current NHL. Expanding by four teams leaves you with 100 minor leaguers taking up roster sports around the league.
Take a look at your favorite team’s fourth line or third defensive pairing. Those guys probably aren’t very good, and they’re probably not very fun to watch. Now imagine even more of those guys clogging up the league.
I hate this line of thinking... it's so (frank)ing lazy.
I wish more people would consider that the mass culling of enforcers and plodding dmen who couldn't move the puck over the past 4-5 seasons opened up about the same number of jobs as expanding by two teams... the league hasn't gotten worse for it, in fact 4th-lines and 3rd-pairs have never been more relevant.
The overall level of skill, and the overall level of play, has gone up, not down.
On a more micro level... guys like Raffl and Bellemare, who are clearly NHL players, would have never gotten an opportunity to play if dudes like Jody Shelley and Riley Cote were still taking up roster spots/cap-space.
There are a lot of talented players overseas and in the AHL who are good enough, but just need that opportunity to earn a job. |

what is crazy is a player can have had success elsewhere and come here and nothing. Giroux used to be money but even he can't buy one. it makes no sense |

Good guess.
05-06: 4-6
06-07: 1-6
07-08: 3-6
08-09: 4-6
09-10: 4-3
10-11: 3-7
11-12: 4-7
12-13: 1-2
13-14: 3-8
14-15: 3-11
15-16: 2-8 - Feanor
The solution is obvious.
They need a specialist. |

I'd even burn an ELC year on Provorov and Konecny if they make the playoffs. This year could be invaluable down the road if they find a way into the playoffs. - dragonoffrost

Why not take that a step further and have ties up until the postseason. In my experience that is when the casual fan tunes in. I know tons of people who don't really watch or follow hockey, but enjoy hockey playoffs.
