I just don't get why it seems we always choose the wrong players for shootouts. I mean Schenn 1 for 9. Couts 2 for 14 or something low ? Why not Simmonds or Jake? Hell even Ghost. Mason made 3 great saves in shootout we should have been able to capitalize |

he was not good tonight, imo. soft and careless with the puck. looked slower than usual. he made a very nice play to read at the end there though. - hammarby31
i didnt get to catch any of your guys game tonight. i do know that the jackets are fast inspiring a lot of hate for me though. for their actual players. which is weird. |

i didn't say that. i asked a question. they have some top 6 guys that need to pick it up.
i hate baseball. - hammarby31
They have a lot of guys that need to pick it up after tonight. But given where they were a month ago, they're playing with house money.
They've shown a lot of resiliency to even get into the race, and as rough as tonight was, they have a stretch where they can do some damage. Colorado, Arizona and Winnipeg before facing the Caps to close out March. After that they have Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toronto, Pittsburgh & close vs the Islanders.
Detroit has a few creampuffs, but they also have 3 back to backs. They go Habs, Pens, Sabres, Habs, Wild, Leafs, Flyers, Bruins Rangers.
The Isles have Ottawa, TB, Carolina twice, Columbus, Pittsburgh, TB, Caps, Rangers, Buffalo, Flyers. |

You heard it here first. The Phillies surprise everyone this season.

exactly. i know theyll be awful, but i can deal if it means something. i can deal with watching a raw double a pitcher struggle with the hope he taps into something. its better than hey heres jerome williams. no, i dont know why either but here he is.
franco is going to be great. just hope something comes out of the ranger haul - stayinthefnnet
I just want to be able to go down there and see it get better.
I don't think that's asking a bunch. |

Right now, this organization is playing with house money.
Does anyone, realistically, expect this team to do anything even if they get in?
Look at what they've cleared out, contract-wise.
Look at the shot in the arm Shayne Gostisbehere, Nick Cousins, and even Scotty Laughton (on some nights) has been.
It's ALL house money for me, as a fan. I have no expectations for this year.

i guess it depends on your definition of better.
if youre looking for wins, i certainly dont see them this year. but like i said. i can go down and enjoy them if they hang in most games, and i get to see young guys improve. im fine watching the young kids cut their teeth. just show me a plan, and guys that are willing to try hard.
do that, and i'll enjoy a year of a poopty record with cheap seats. |

This team has overachieved lately. In reality, they are just not that good. They couldn't control Chicago or Detroit late in the game either but they got lucky and pulled out wins anyway. This time when the pressure was on, they withered just like they always do. Only this time, the appropriate outcome occurred. The team that played Pittsburgh was more indicative of what they are. Hardworking , but just not good enough. |

Yep. Hell as recently as two weeks ago a lot of folks figured the Flyers were going to have to focus on the lottery.
Now they sit with a 64.4% chance at the playoffs. If they simply match their play in each of the last two ten game stretches, they have a 98.7% chance of being in |

It means that you exceeded expectations and no matter what happens from here on out, you're going home with more money in your pockets than you showed up at the casino with.
in other words, you're making your bets, win or lose, with the casino's money and not your own |

So, is the Detroit team that is struggling and went 4-6 in their last ten and looking like they are running on fumes after getting destroyed tonight against Tampa really what they are? Or have they just had bad luck?
Are the Isles that lost 3 straight and look like a tire fire some nights simply underachieving?
Since January 1st, the Flyers have the 4th best record in the east. If they overachieved, they sure as (frank) been doing it for awhile. |

And who reasonably expected playoffs from this team?
Not me. Not any objective observer.
Enjoy this run. It's not the end game and it's gonna be fun. |

no doubt they've done a great job to get back in this thing. it just infuriates me to see them piss away points like this, making it even harder on themselves. 13 OTL's this year. cut that in half and we're having a different conversation.
every game is a playoff game at this point. |

Guys like Ghost, Cousins, Laughton, even Manning will know what it takes to succeed regularly in the NHL.
We got rid of bad contracts.
To me, the biggest crime, is that Claude Giroux has raised his game this year (again) and he's gonna get ignored for World Cup.

i am enjoying it. in the heat of the moment the big picture disappears, for me, and my inner-raging, starving for a cup since i'm 7 years old self emerges because that's the power he possesses. i will always be that way until the drought ends, and even then, i'll still probably be that way. because i hate to (frank)ing lose. |

True.
But in September, most of us pretty much expected to be playing out the string now, trying to follow draft prospects and wonder if they were going to make a splash.
Now they have a competitive team battling for a playoff berth, they cleared a couple of potential cap headaches, have a load of talent in the system and young talent chipping in on the NHL level, a coach who seems to be as on the ball as any they have had in years.
For me, it's the excitement of things, rather than the resignation of a rbuild |

I was at the game last Saturday and I was PISSED.
But I know this team ain't ready and they never were. |
