Guys like Ghost, Cousins, Laughton, even Manning will know what it takes to succeed regularly in the NHL.
We got rid of bad contracts.
To me, the biggest crime, is that Claude Giroux has raised his game this year (again) and he's gonna get ignored for World Cup. - johndewar
his numbers are surprisingly down from what i would expect. i feel like every time i'm watching he is picking up assists. and they usually arent of the secondary variety either. he has some absolute gems of set ups this year. and watching him on the PP is fun, unless its against the pens.
its just weird having top guys barely break a PPG pace anymore. |

Yeah, but imagine the chip on his shoulder because of the snub - Jsaquella
I'm ready to file the paperwork for him to go dual citizenship myself.
I don't like the Mason criticism but I don't like the Giroux criticism either.
G has put it out there this year and has gotten better. |

He's doing it different now, though.
His FO% is up.
His defensive play, at least by the eye test, looks on point.
He's backing teammate, especially lesser teammates.
I don't know if #fancystats backs me, but he's having a pretty damned good year, points be damned. |

Effective in the Dzone including the PK too.
But it doesn't matter because he's not scoring 35 goals |

I just feel they are the two most wrongly criticized guys on the team-or at least consistently wrongly criticized guys.

You can see he's leading the team. He's incorporated some of Richie's act even with some of Pronger (G can get visibly angry sometimes), but you never hear G throw his teammates under the bus.
He's a leader. (frank) the haters. |

It's brutal, really. It's like they don't see the games. |

i do see what you're saying. i do watch a lot of flyers hockey just because a lot of times its the game thats on. and he is very noticeable. he is a stud, pure and simple. love the way he plays. the morons in this city that bleat about him sucking don't deserve to get to watch him play.
i'll never overtly wish him well, but he is definitely a great foil for crosby. |

people have some preconceived notion of leadership that they can never quantify, except when they want to indicate certain factors they deem lacking in a guy they want to bash.
i feel like if a guy like giroux or crosby tried to be pronger, it would be so forced and phony it would suck. that's just not them. your leader doesnt have to be rah rah to get the job done.
hell. even toews, the guy who everyone hails as the best leader going right now, had that series in the one cup run in which he was sitting there with his head down and seabrook had to go lift him up. its reciprocal. its a (frank)ing team game. |

G - BulliesPhan87
Me too.
Ever see those little episodes G has where he temporarily loses his temper?
Reminds me of those stories when he was younger and Pronger was still around and you'd read about Pronger sounding Giroux out because he gave up the puck in a bad spot or something.
Giroux's beginnings in the CHL weren't exactly clothed in glory.
Dude has a chip on his shoulder and once in awhile, some Pronger bleeds out. |

Boone Jenner is 6'2" without skates and tipped a puck above his shoulders. We proved to be relatively okay with math today, so I think it was above the crossbar. |

First PP unit has to get it in gear to help this playoff push. We catch a break for the Avs game as they will be without Duchense and Mackinnon. |

Blowing a 2 goal lead to a conference cellar dweller in the final minute is beyond absurd.
Of course they could have won the game in the shootout and made it a moot point, but of course it was the same old inept bullpoop. 32-70 all time in shootouts is laughable. Yet it's the same poop year after year.
People blaming Mason last night are fools. Saw a lot of that. Pretty clueless. |

It amuses me that after most called them a lottery pick earlier in the year they find them selves in a playoff spot as of today, yet the crying last night continued.
As jsaq said 4th best record in the east since January. They are fun to watch right now and control their own destiny. What more more could you want?
Let's go flyers! |

Mason is the only reason they were in that game and that is ultimately the sad thing about it. Like you said that was a conference cellar dweller. Those teams must be put away. The top PPP must get the job done. The shootouts well we all know that story, it is a sad one

Including his shootout saves last night, I believe Mason's save % this week is 0.951 (78/82). If anything, he will be the reason we make the playoffs. |

It's not absurd for a fringe playoff team

Question for the board.....
If Konecny's team is done and the Flyers were in the playoffs would you maybe add him(if they can add him) to the roster even if you use a year off the ELC? Kind of how Rangers added Krieder for the playoffs his rookie year. |

That play ghost made to keep the puck in the zone and then immediately break a defenders ankles and get the puck to simmonds was incredible. Would've been nice if he scored that

Anyone else see the ref almost call the goal off before changing his mind? I think that greatly influenced the decision upstairs. I think there was no clear evidence based on the camera angles we saw, therefore they would go with what was called on the ice. |
