A year older and he will be a year better.

Would have been interesting to see how this year wouldve compared if he stayed in buffalo for his draft (tank) year.. He still couldve gone to the World Juniors.

It's hard to argue with the path GMTM sent him on but I've always thought Sam plays around the speed of the game. Once he adjusted to the tempo, his smarts can do the rest. That was the big difference when he left the 4th line this year.

Would Nolan have given him the time of the 4th line last year to adjust..we'll never know..either way im happy

I don't think Nolan could've handled him as well as Bylsma did...then again, o'reilly really was a factor as was reinhart's devotion to his craft

Thing that stood out the most with Sam is how much his skating improved. He was never slow but he wasn't going to burn people with speed. Compare that to Jack who is the fastest player on the team and you had a big contrast. Watching the two play together it didn't look like Sam was having trouble keeping up or that Jack had to slow his game down for him.

My big question is how much of Sam's success is ROR and Eichel related? Talented players make others better. I'd like to see, for a while, Sam separated from both of them and see what he's learned. If he can become the one that makes other players even better (not saying he isn't now) imagine him next to Jack down the road.

Nolan would have given him time alright. A few laps at warm-ups and then a nice cozy spot at the end of the bench while the vets played 22 minutes a night.

If I were Murray I would suggest Samson could still use another 8 pounds of bulk.
As good as he was, and as pleasant a surprise it was to see how he handled himself in and near the blue ice, there were more than a few times when he got pushed around/over down there.

How old is he, 20? I could see him putting on another 5-10 before the season starts if he dedicates himself to it. I've seen nothing to indicate he doesn't have the work ethic.

Seriously more impressed with him than any other on the team. Just for how far he came in a year and what kind of work it took to do that.

Agreed. I am only saying I think it would help his game even more to have the extra 5 - 10.

If the Sabres add an additional offensive threat.

Either draft top 3, sign a FA or make a trade. I see no reason why Reinhardt cant get 50-60.

He didn't seem to get thrown around as much this year. Another 10 pounds and he could really hold his own. Especially if that 10 pounds adds to his confidence as well. Feel like that was his revelation this year was that he realized that he really belonged and could play in this league.
