No. Player must play for the franchise for at least one season prior.

The cost is scary though

I actually think we would be one of the only teams that could take on the whole salary, which would drive the cost way down IMO

2 years is perfect. Won't effect us

I just don't know if you can make it work trade wise.

Who + what picks do you give up to get him?

What NYR would want V what i would offer if i were GM are two very different things.

You need to use the internet. Photos on your drive won't work.

reply to my post to see how to set up the link

You need to upload the image to the interwebs. I recomend using imgur.com cuz it's quite easy

I'm not so sure they'd be that desperate to move him though, to get any sort of "low" offer Buffalo could give them. Realistically (trade proposals often don't turn out that way here, which is why I never post any), what are we looking at?

If the cupboards are already so "bare", what could they possibly want?

Rangers will be very desperate. They have a lot of players on the books, and no cap room

[quote=IonSabres]Thank you to all who responded to my question about posting an image...hope this works!

Hopefully you can actually see it, and It isn't to small to view.
But several weeks ago I decided to do a bit of work to prove to myself that signing Stamkos to a mega deal would be detrimental for the Sabres in the "out" years...say years 5, 6, 7.

Here is my analysis which proved to me, to my chagrin that GMTM should go all in on him ... this analysis assume a growth in the Cap of $2.75 per year, which is what next seasons increase is expected to be...
would love feedback and discussion...

You also get to sign him for 1 more if you sign him before UFA day

I'm 90 % sure dd always talks about this I could be so wrong

- gerbe75pts

Wrong you need to hold his rights for a year before you can offer an 8 year deal.

Only team that can offer Stamkos 8 years at this point is Tampa.

They have 19.5M coming off the books this offseason, who are they really re-signing out of that other than Kreider? I can't imagine Staal getting an offer unless it's a major pay cut (8+M for 33 points this season). I can see Yandle too maybe, so him, Kreider, and 2 RFAs, leaving only about 5 holes in the roster it looks like.

Obviously they need to do something, I'm not disagreeing that they'd probably like to be out from under that contract, but I don't know if they're desperate to get back not-so-great pieces.

Edit: I was thinking the cap was 74M right now, but I think it's 71, so that extra 3M hurts my thinking a bit. Chances are it's 74 next season rather than the 76-77 I thought

Loop Hole.

Sign to a 1 year 12MM contract.

Sign a 7 year 75MM contract extension when the preseason starts.

Now you have 8 years.

This is very cool. I think things may be a little bit tighter around the 2020 season, but I think this does illustrate that signing Stamkos doesn't mean you lose RoR, Jack, Sam or Risto. All can be signed and kept. I like how you leave money allotted for players not on the team...always weird when someone does this but only accounts for people in the system, no FAs/no draftees.

No one is trading for his rights to sign him to a one year deal.

Yeah, love your work Ion, but that part might be a bit tough. But then again, with 2 more teams being in the league, it WILL raise revenue...and those 2 teams will likely bring in more than the average is now

I hear ya... was surprised to hear it was going up this year.
And then I think back to the 2005-06 season after the lockout and the cap was like $39 ... and now we are at 182% of that!!
So, $18 m over the next 7 seasons...doesn't seem that unlikely.
