I agree, not a fan of trading down at all.

All anyone can talk about is tanking to get a high pick and now that we have it people are in a rush to dump it for mid round picks or B level D prospects

I hope like hell we don't trade down... I am hoping for Tkachuk or PLD.

Id agree with this. Not a bad choice in grabbing sergachev around 13 but 21? I dont think Itd be worth it.
Id rather keek our pick and make a trade for the habs #9 to grab a D

Not necessarily directed at you as many are mentioning trading down....but why in the (frank) are we trading our highest pick since Daniel Sedin?

I think I mentioned this kids character awhile ago to those who were worried about him signing in the future. He is exactly what the Canucks need for the future.

Sounds like a former advisor/agent hacked his account.

Sports should stop testing for weed, it's hardly a 'performance enhancer' unless it's a hotdog eating contest.

I read an article on him yesterday and how pumped he was to be a Canuck. He said the biggest relief was talking to UND head coach (who was an assistant coach for the Canucks AHL Manitoba Moose back in the day) about NOT signing and developing further at UND. Benning and Linden were very encouraging and even brought up some players who really matured after spending 2 seasons in NCAA - Oshie, Toews, etc. He also went on record to say that he has spoken to Drake about how good the staff and facilities are in Vancouver and thinks he has a really good chance to go far in his hockey career with the Canucks. From what I read, he is VERY proud to be a Canuck.

which are which numbers?
- SMBDragon

13 & 19OA

With 5th we pick BPA & trade down if JB's pick is there eg maybe Keller then RHD @ 19th as in Fabbro or Mcavoy. Something like that only if JB sees his pick there.

I wouldn't say its a performance enhancer but I will say for some people like myself it puts you into a "Zone" or frame of focus when doing certain things. From snowboarding to video games even chores around the house it won't enhance you physically or mentally really but it does put you in certain frame of mind when trying to do those things.

Why cuz nothing says getting attached to 5OA is the only option.
Depends on whats available & then the option to trade is possible.
Adding good RHD is the main motive.

Its only an option n keeping 5 is fine.

Great for getting those mundane tasks done. Had to split a bunch of wood last week and boy did it make that job go by quickly.

So what is the real difference or drop in talent from 5th to 13th?
Say Keller or Brown. Now recall i said we pick 5 1st before trading.

Add to that prolly get to add a RHD to fill another hole with 19th.
Fabbro or McAvoy

I'm open to being convinced 5OA is a guaranteed top 6 F.

High Times has a great interview with Ross...

HT: Have you had any negative experiences with marijuana?
RR: Sure. Lots of times.

HT: Really? What kind?
RR: Mostly running out.

We have other picks than #5. This RHD dream is a joke.

I dont think when it comes to good young talent the Canucks can afford to be picky. As with any draft, there are drop offs in talent as you get further into the draft. It isnt like the NFL where there are so many positions and a team that has a franchise QB can trade down to get one of the lineman and get a good return in the process.

As with any trades, those that get the best player usually win the deal, which many here have started to associate names with proposals saying things like "No I would trade Tkachuk/Dubois for Drouin" or "Tkachuk/Dubois for Jones and Stanley". I was disappointed they fell to 5, but moving this pick isnt going to speed up the rebuild by acquiring more lesser talent and wait for it all to develop. I hope that whoever gets picked at 5 gets 9 games this fall and starts the following season

Care to elaborate or blowing wind on RHD?

If u ever played hockey try playing the offside on D.

The draft is where Benning is supposed to shine. Hopefully he has d men lined up at 33 and 63 that can turn into NHLers. Take the BPA at 5.
