Dubois seems like a big-bodied power forward, much like Stafford but hopefully more consistent. Nylander is smaller, but fast, Reinhart style of seeing the ice and knowing where to be. I would say he's like Ehlers, good hands and can put the puck in the net. His downside would he his size, but who knows how much bigger he'll get. I think he can do well with the centers we have in place, and he's definitely the guy I want us select at #8. - sskkoo1
Then we can have the brotherly rivalry between Buff and Tor
Dubois is #1 for NHL central scouting NA skaters. What are they missing do you think? - Sabre_Tooth
Idk that they're "missing" anything necessarily
It's just that the "Q" is a much more offensive league in general.
So for a guy to be rated that high,
Generally he needs to have produced better scoring #s
From what I've read...
Most have him as a top10 guy, not a top5 guy like Central Scouting has him
He wouldn't be a bad pick for us at #8
I'd just prefer the defenseman bc Dubois could just as easily turn out to be a 20 goal scorer as a 30 goal scorer
A partner for Risto is more important IMO
And top6 options seem to be a little more possible for us right now with Stamkos, Vesey & Caggiula all potential options

So take a defenseman? Any possibilty Chychrun falls? Are there any other guys that might be able to make the team sooner rather than later to fit risto's pairing?
Some variation of that seems plausible for next year
And in another year or 2, that 3rd line could be our 4th and we'd be looking REALLY strong up front
Idk if I'm asking too much here...
But if we snag Stamkos, and Vesey or Caggiula (or even both), then that really gives us options as far as trading for a guy to play with Risto long term

That would be great, I think Alex is better than William and it will be fun watching him dominate his brother for 10 years. DuBois I'd be wary about. There's something about guy that shoot up the charts at the last possible moment that just doesn't sit well with me. IMO he's another Fashing/Bailey in the making and we're covered on those types of players for the foreseeable future.

It seems to me that Edmonton will take him unless they trade the pick (which seems pretty likely actually)
There are scenarios where we miss on both of them though...
Edmonton, Vancouver & Arizona could all go defense
So we might even miss out on the Russian (if GMTM would even take him)
But if that happens,
We'd have either Tkachuck or Nylander fall to us
And Dubois would certainly still be available
The lines might not look exactly like that...
(biggest issue is Ennis on the 4th line)
But I could definitely see those being our top12 forwards opening night

If those are the Sabres top 12 forwards on opening night that's a playoff team.

thx...am interested because the heat just shelved chris bosh for the year because of a blood clot...don't know if there are any similarities, but it's an eye-brow raiser - Michael Pachla
Bosh is healthy to go but the heat care more about his health right now which I don't get when he's fine and it's pissing me off
Perfect example of why I keep saying we need THREE scoring lines though
How freaking good were Roy & Connolly in that game?
I think Roy had 4pts & Connolly had 3 or 4 as well

They mostly will take 2 to 3 years and taking a defenseman top 10 is always a death notice in my opinion unless of course they're really really the rare ones
